Could you maybe add "GTA" or similar into the post title for those of us who don't live there.

I tried this today and it was average (5/10). I wouldn't go out of my way to go get this and felt like the store was penny-pinching

Be prepared for
a) Up-sell up-sell up-sell like falafels, or fries then hummus. You can't substitute fries for rice or do mixed for free
b) You can't choose a spicy level for free. You have to pay ~$0.50 a sauce packet or pay for extra sauce when ordering

The hot sauce reminded me of the lazeez hot sauce not sriracha

Can't believe a restaurant in this day and age is charging for sauce packets. I would flat out not eat there at all.

This must be new, never had I had an issue with any sauce always free you just tell them you want more of either sauce. I've also never been charged for hot sauce packets.

As for up selling that's common practice.

I was there last before covid hit maybe it's made them into penny pinchers as you say.

Thanks for the Intel. Loved the HG's in NYC and went to this store during their TO opening. They used to give out an extra white sauce when I asked and I would go home and make a replica meal with this sauce.
Guess I won't be going back to this store anymore.

2 shwarmas for $16 is a good deal?

I used to go to this place in scarborough on lawrence called ibrahim bbq where you could get 2 amazing shwarmas for like $8. There was another place on shepherd called family shwarma, similiar price. This was like 7-8 yrs ago. Why have shwarma prices shot up so much so quickly?

Gave it two tries during the month it opened.

It's decent and somewhat good when you're under the influence. I would stick to the good local shawarma shops though. There's a lot of good ones that completely knocks this out of the park.

These are platters not wraps. I'm assuming you're getting 2 wraps for $8.

Apart from the carts in NYC ($8 USD per plate now), pretty much every other Halal Guys franchise sucks. I've had it in SF, LA, and Toronto, and they're all overpriced and shitty.

Would rather pick up a plate from any shawarma spot in Scarborough. Haven't been in a while but Shawarma Empire on Lawrence and Johnny's Shawarma on Kennedy are both pretty good.

These are platters, which are usually at least 50% more than what I believe you're talking about is a sandwich, also, 7-8 years ago is not "so quickly", $4-5 for a sandwich is reasonable, a good value usually, and is still the price at certain spot, although I would say $7 would be the average, platters are at least $10 nowadays, I would agree that $8 for a small platter seems like regular price to me, for a fast food type of place, either way, I'd stay away, unless it's a no brainer of a deal, plus none of this factors in QUALITY, which is everything,

Yeah I meant wraps, I didn't realize platters were more expensive cause I always get wraps, I thought they give you the same amount of everything on a platter just in a plate instead of a wrap, but I guess they give you more.
