Does buying it online still get you free alterations? And it looks free returns?

compared to USA prices, I've found Harry Rosen to be extremely overpriced in most items. I get that Canada and US are not the same, but the price difference you see at HR does not justify that. I find HR and some of the other shops in GTA just so pretentious. I hope the experience of going through COVID lockdown will ground them a little.

I find Simons has the best clearance prices on Boss - not counting random items at Winners.

I used to think that, but sometimes (like the sale on now) the price can get close or even lower than US prices. Also the complimentary alteration or minor repairs for the life of the garment is a pretty nice value add.

100% agree with the in store experience being pretentious, mostly due to the attitude from the sales.

Apparently many of the Hugo Boss are fused. It's hard to say if they're any better than the (decently made) suits at Banana Republic. If you want a higher level, the better value is Spier & Mackay, a Canadian company which sells half- and full-canvas suits with quality fabrics at much better prices than Harry Rosen.

What exactly do you mean by half and full canvas suits?

These are higher levels of construction, where the chest piece is stitched instead of glued to the fabric, contributing to better fit and garment longevity. Over time, fused suits lose their shape and may bubble, especially if frequently dry-cleaned. There's lots of information about this online.

Harry Rosen is mostly for people who still rely on brand name as an indicator of quality and are willing to pay for it. However, brand name is a pretty unreliable indicator, and there are lots of smaller outfits which cut out the retail middleman and offer similar or better quality at better prices.

I disagree. Harry Rosen is a pretty mainstream retailer so they'll stock all kinds of products for different clients. Hugo Boss is basically garbage, but Canali, E. Zegna and etc. suits can be great for the price. I see a ton of them at 50% off + 25% at checkout + 10% off with THANKYOU10 + 10% off with Ampli up to $50.

That's basically ~$600 for a Canali, made in Italy full canvas suits with free alterations for the life of the garment (including adding surgeon's cuff for Canali).

Looking at Spier and McKay, I see full canvas suits there for $800 (Made in China) and excluded from the 25% off boxing day sale, without all of Harry's value adds. Those alterations given at Harry's can easily cost $100+ for the surgeon cuffs alone... I also think Canali's suits are just better.

You're going the totally opposite way and hating on a brand (Harry Rosen) rather than looking at specific deals.

Boss is not good quality, entry level brand should be Canali.
