Has anyone been getting used products in their orders sold from Amazon.ca?

Brief backstory - I bought 3 different video games last month under 3 different listings as New & Sold by Amazon.ca. I was sent 3 used games. Back barcode FBA sticker ripped partially so it could not be provided. I contact Amazon.ca customer service who says I was lying which is totally ridiculous but whatever maybe they had an inventory issue so I sent them all back for a refund (still dreadful CS I might add worst in all my time using Amazon over the last 15 years).

This week I order another video game sold by as New by Amazon.ca and I receive a used game. Same torn FBA barcode ripped on the back of the case. This time however the FBA seller included a card with their username inside the game case so I know who it originally belonged to before being taken as inventory and sold as "New by Amazon.ca".

- No I did not accidentally click FBA items. These were all listings shipped and sold by Amazon.ca
- This is the first time it's happened to me in all the years of using Amazon and no I'm not fabricating this.

Has anyone had this happen to them as well lately?

I don't think physical items are kept separate depending on who is selling them. I think there's just a pile of this game and you get one from the pile regardless of whether it's FBA or sold by Amazon. The issue may be that some FBA seller introduced used items into the system but labeled them as new, so Amazon thinks they're new and uses them to fulfil orders for new products. That's why, for example, you can get fake memory cards even if you select only sold by Amazon. Amazon isn't buying fake memory cards, but some other seller is and they're all getting mixed together.

Same thing happened to me! Received open bag of $2 gummies… threw them out, not worth the time to dispute

On multiple occasions in the last six months, I've noticed that the item I purchased has an LPN N label on top of the regular amazon label. This is returned merchandise being sold as new. Most of them are sold by Amazon themselves.

Was it obviously open, or just slightly (something easy to miss by the packer)?

While I haven't had this happen to me yet, I know people who have received used/repackaged items when they ordered them new at Amazon.

I've experienced this multiple times as well forcing me to return items that I would have liked to have kept. I'm actually reluctant to order anything from Amazon these days because it's a crap shoot with the quality of the item being received.

Can't you just get a replacement instead? It creates a new $0 order for you

From what I can tell, items that have left Amazon's system and then returned are tracked with a label that starts with "LPN N#####..." The warehouse deals items I've bought have this label, as do some new items that were obviously repackaged.

For one I did - the box was banged up pretty good and the contents were all over the place and got a replacement that looked brand new. The other was a Like New Warehouse Deals item that was anything but.

This has been happening for a long time, I posted about it in a thread last year and an amazon employee who is a forum member basically said it was impossible because of how they sort things, and other members came in saying its happened to them as well maybe the issue is getting bigger now. It's very disappointing to buy a pair of shoes at a new price and find out they've obviously been worn, happened with a set of car speakers as well. Pain in the ass to have to return and reorder more so with their dynamic pricing.

Wasn't there some talk about Amazon mix up inventory from themselves and 3rd party seller if 3rd party choose to use the same SKU or such? So while Amazon themselves probably wouldn't sell used stuff as new, you could've gotten inventory that was sent in by 3rd party sellers, maybe.

Anything that needs to be tracked individually gets a License Plate Number (LPN) sticker. That includes returns, but also things that fall on the floor and get damaged, things that have damaged barcodes, etc.

Jeff Bezos had stepped down as the CEO last year. You should email Andy Jassy [email protected]

Andy Jassy officially takes over as Amazon CEO

The email is for his team to read not him so I think it still works. Both email likely works at this point since it’s likely just forwarded to others to take care of.
