Health Canada is recalling a product labelled a hand sanitizer but that it has determined is counterfeit.
The government department says a counterfeit version of the authorized Daily Shield hand sanitizer has been found for sale at a Dollarama store in Thunder Bay.
Health Canada warns the false version may not be effective at killing bacteria and viruses, and may pose serious risks to health.
It also says that the unauthorized product is suspected to contain methanol, which is not authorized for use in hand sanitizers and could cause severe adverse reactions or death when ingested.
The counterfeit version is labelled with NPN 80098979, Lot 6942; Expiry May 2023 and is sold in a 250 mL format.

But you touch, then sanitize. As long as you use the sanitizer properly , it kills 99.99% of germs

Many stores use diluted sanitizer that is virtually useless, or sanitizers that smell extremely bad and are next to impossible to wash off. Thanks but no thanks...I'll use my own.apnayloags wrote: ↑ Who even buys sanitizer nowadays

The genuine product was approved. This is a counterfeit version of that product. I highly doubt the counterfeiters will submit their knock-off product to Health Canada for inspection, lol.

Not going to lie, the first time I saw one of those things in Walmart, I completely missed the foot pump. For some reason, I thought the metal bar at the top was to prevent people from jacking the whole bottle... Finally saw a video on Youtube that had somebody using the foot pump before I realized I'm actually an idiot.cristianosham wrote: ↑ that is why walmart uses the feet pump

They make the diluted one because the ingredient that makes it jelly like is more expensive now due to demand and also low supply.
