Heatpump/AC install Quote Is this a normal price?

I got the attached quote for a new HP/AC installed in my old house.

I have yet to get an energy audit down, which I will.

But the quote from he AC comply seems excessive, or is this normal?

Some independent feedback would be good.

This is before tax

Not too bad though I don't know how much those components cost. I was inquiring for my B-i-L a few years ago. I knew that cheap Carriers - probably OEM'd by a Chinese manufacturer were going for $1,500 cash 'n carry for 1 compressor and 1 head unit. An installer where he lived said it'd be $7k installed for the simplest, smallest HP.

I'd seriously look at a central HP (Mitsubishi or Daikin) if you have ducting.

The Haier units are US$399 each if you buy them direct online.

Ducted system are not an option for me

Looks like a pretty hefty premium then. Seems to be the going rate unfortunately. Get other quotes.

Depends - how long of a run is it for the copper and wiring? On the surface it seems high. Not sure where pricing is today, but we were quoted under $10k installed for Mitsubishi 2.5t mutli-split with 3 heads, but this was 2020.

Get multiple quotes, obviously, and look into HVAC shops that work with Daikin or Mitsubishi units. The units typically aren't the expensive part, it's the installation, piping, wiring, etc.

Thx, yes they installed a Mitsubishi for me last year in a separate area. Just kinda taken aback at the cost. Inflation is having its effect, I just won't spend the money, the limit has been reached for me. Same as the fence guys. I put that project on hold indefinitely.

For the benefit of anyone else who finds this thread, Haier does not have a good enough reputation to be worth that kind of money. The price is semi-reasonable for Mitsubishi or other higher-end brands, but not for Haier or other bottom-of-the-barrel offerings.

Current costs aren't a true inflation issue as much as a 'CEOs have decided they are entitled to even more of our money' issue. Neither production costs nor demand have risen, but the level of corporate profits demanded by stock markets have risen by 10%-25% over pre-COVID levels. Every cent in price increases that we've all been forced to pay since COVID has wound up in a (typically American) billionares' pocket.

Not so easy there Ma…
You want to get an audit for the Greener Homes Grant? Is that correct or is it for some other program? I don't see how you'd qualify from what you've posted. I'd be concerned you'd lose out on the $600 rebate for the audit itself too. To qualify the heat pump must be capable of heating your home and there are also other qualifiers depending on how many levels your home is. Also have you checked that the Haier head units and outdoor pump on the qualifications list? You must complete a minimum of one recommended energy upgrade as recommended by the energy auditor.

What's the run length from the compressor to the head units? The lines (coolant and power) have to be buried. I imagine if walls and ceilings have to be ripped open to accommodate such and be restored, it adds significantly. For example Was told by a renovator that if were to need dry wall work done (for bath), it'll be at least $1,500 no matter how small because it'd require 4 site visits.

Cheapest, if power could be fed easily (such as from baseboards), would be compressor on one side and head on the other.

Not just for this. I also need to insulate the crawl space and fix the insulation in the attic.

Those are the parts that will be for the rebates. I doubt the Heatpump will qualify
