help choose Asus router

Hi,
I plan to change my internet provider. I hesitate between these Asus routers: RT-AX86U and RT-AX82U.

My needs are:
1) 1 (or 2) channel for me.
2) Rest for 4 guests, all individuals and I can put a cap on the bandwith (optional: a cap on the download capacity). The goal is to avoid a guest that will download all the times and takes too much bandwith. Don't want something linked to hardware. I want guest1, guest2, etc, each with a different password. Don't care how many device they link to each account. I also don't want to add devices. Modem+router, that's it.
3) Ease of use (it's important as I'm not techy at all).
4) Good coverage.

As of now, the 2,4 GHz is for us and the 5 GHz is for the guests. There is no control etc. I don't mind dedicating one band to the guests.

Any comment? Feel free to mention things not mentionned in my list.

Thanks

AX86U of course

As for the guest thing i don't really see a bandwidth limiter, only a speed limiter on my ac86u.

Better cpu, 2.5gbps port, more usb ports, stronger 2.4ghz wifi and a few things more.
Yep seen that one. Thanks.

TBH, I asked the question based on this site reviews:
https://pokde.net/review/asus-rt-ax82u-ax5400-review
https://pokde.net/review/asus-rt-ax86u-review-ax5700

The guy made very good reviews. TBH, I don't understand everything but that's why we have peoples who know more doing reviews.

It's also the reason why I posted my needs as they differ from one person to another. Not the best example, but I've seen reviews of the 86 where, in the cons, they mention " no RGB". Like many, while it's not important, I prefer no RGB...

I suggest you get an access point instead. EAP245 is cheaper than the Asus router, it has a guest mode and you can control the bandwidth

If you want WiFi 6, then the EAP660

I'll be humble, I admit I didn't knew about access point. Whyyyy everything has to be complicated...
If there's only speed and no bandwith lilitation, that will be OK.
I'll check that nevertheless
thanks

https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-EAP245-Wi ... B07NMZR3F1

It goes on sale frequently at ~80$

This will allow you to limit speed (bandwidth), but it doesn't limit total amount of download. It will allow you to limit time in Guest mode. Meaning that if someone signs in to the guest WiFi, you can expire it after 1 hour

If you have fast internet, you can limit the guest account to half the speed etc.

Anyone had this issue with their RT-AC86U?

Power on the router and the "4" LAN connection light is on. All other lights are off.

I have tried to hard reset (hold the reset button and power on) but nothing happens. The "4" LAN connection just lights up and nothing else.

Is this router pouched? It's out of warranty.
