Help with closing old Future shop Wells fargo credit card

Help with closing old Future shop Wells fargo credit card


I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me with an old credit card from 2004 from Future Shop Wells fargo. I noticed on my credit report today that the account remains open. The balance is 0 and the status is current, however, it is for $2000. I'm wondering where I should call to have the account closed as it is unclear which financial company now owns this account. I'm afraid that they may have been in contact with me, but after I paid off the balance I probably never updated my mailing address and i do not know my account number.

If someone has some tips, or knows how to close the account, I would appreciate your help.

According to the link below, Wells Fargo sold its credit card accounts to Affirm Financial Services in 2012. (Their phone number is displayed on the link below.) ... rtant.html

Effective as of September 1st, 2012, Affirm Acquisitions LP (“Affirm”) has purchased and became the owner of your Wells Fargo Financial Retail Services Company Canada (“Wells”) account (“your account”).

Customers whose accounts were purchased by Affirm will be receiving a letter in the upcoming weeks notifying them of this change.

Your new account will be serviced by Affirm Financial Services* through its AFFIRM Mastercard® program. You will not be assigned a new credit card at this time.
Your new account number will be on your first statement (Please note: Your old account number is no longer valid.)
The terms of your account will remain exactly the same.
For those credit card account holders who are insured under FutureGuard1* or Card Care2*, the terms and conditions of the certificate of insurance remain in force and unchanged except for the policyholder which is changing from Wells to Affirm. Further, any claim benefit payments will now be applied to your new account number. If you have any questions regarding your insurance program, please call the insurer(s)* at (800) 309-3988 for FutureGuard and (877) 459-6080 for Card Care.
To make payments on your account, please use one of the following options:

Set up automatic bill payments through online banking directly from your personal chequing account using your new AFFIRM Mastercard number.
Visit a Western Union location to pay your account with a WUQC; use “Affirm Canada” for the code city and “BC” for the code province.
Pay using TelPay: online at
Send your payment to Affirm Card, PO Box 48235, 595 Burrand St, Vancouver, BC, V7X 1A1.
