Hilton Time share resort, Los Cabos for 399 USD+ tax?!?

So I called to merge a business and personal account regarding Hilton honors, they transfer me to this sales pitch...and I was offered 399 + tax at los Cabos for 3 nights 4 days or $599 for 4 nights 5 days. But I have to attend the sales pitch for 2 hours....so I guess I would do that for free spa anyways. So I took it ....

Free 500+ 10,000 HH points too.

Is this worth it? Though I already paid adi have 1 year to use it no black out.

Extra one time $99 fee for high seasons.

Don't get sucked in and it's totally worth it.

Get up and leave at the 2hr mark though, they'll likely try to keep you till you sign on, and they'll make it look like an awesome deal, "once in a lifetime opportunity".

Yeah - these deals are great. Usually, if you decline their initial offers to sign up for these previews 1-2 times, they will sweeten the pot with even more credit, etc. This past year, we got 3 nights in Vegas for $199 USD, with $199 USD credit on check-out, a $250 USD Hilton gift certificate, and 18 months to use the preview.

Honestly, the sales pitches are pretty hilarious. I can't believe people get sucked into all their mental manipulation tactics - think of car dealership on steroids. We quite enjoyed seeing how they tried to make it seem like a "good deal". We did the math in front of them, and I think the finance rate was something ridiculous, like 40-50% APR or something that would amount to almost $100k USD over the term.

If you are ever interested, you can buy these titles from people re-selling for pennies on the dollar. If bought on the re-sale market, they can actually be a really good deal for those who have the aspiration and flexibility to use HGV properties every year.

The one and only one I ever sat in on started at something like $50k, by the end they were down to $9k. I finally told them "look, we don't have any money, we're just here for the free night stay and the dvd player!" and they left us alone. This was at horseshoe resort, prolly 25yrs ago.

We love Hilton Hotels & Resorts
Great properties
We’ve even stayed at several of their Hilton Grand Vacation Resorts
(Many … if not all of them are on the Hilton website bookable just like their Hotel Rooms )

But ya no …
I’d never buy a timeshare
No matter how tempting an offer they made

FREE Nights and Discounted Stays
Are just the hook / obligation that they impose on you to sit thru several hours or even days of presentations & hard sell tactics

This is how EVERY TIMESHARE works
Cuz … it’s a successful way to breakdown weak people

NOT WORTH MY TIME EVER
I got far better things to do with my hard earned vacation time
No matter who is behind the timeshare group

Hilton, Marriott, Disney, Intrawest etc
It’s all exactly the same concept

You buy in long term
And then you are stuck feeling obligated to vacation with one place … or Co / group
And it’s a B!TCH to trade credits to go elsewhere
Or to sell up and move on

Ya … no thanks
I got far better plans for my vacation time & $$$
