Bought a range last year. No issues; they were careful carrying it in.
Cleaned up the packaging and took it with them.

Costco doesn’t actually do the delivery
It’s sub contracted out / drop shipped … depending on which city / region YOU live in *

So experiences can differ greatly across Canada

Biggest issue with fridge delivery these days are:

(A) Is it actually gonna be delivered on time … lots of stuff on Back Order cuz of Covid when it comes to Covid. Appliances esp.

(B) will the fridge fit thru your doors / doorways. One expects the fridge doors … or least the handles to come off to get thru. But a really wide fridge and narrow doorways … and you could be looking at your front door to your house being removed … or worse case … NON DELIVERY cuz the item doesn’t fit into your house (although usually less and issue with fridges than big pieces of furniture … like sofas )

* NOTE - Time to add a location to your RFD Profile. Extremely helpful in the Forums when folks are giving their info from across Canada … NFLD to BC, and Point Pelee to Iqualuit. Your location aids in your getting the best answer possible when posing a question. And helps others whenever you reply to their questions with your POV … from wherever you live. Locator can be Province, Region, Nearby big city, or hometown. Like mine says Eastern Ontario.

And for the record … yes there have been issues in the past with some subcontracted Costco Delivery Services … like this one from 2019 = costco-online-order-i-tell-story-you-ju ... ed-2327612

Believe that was in the GTA (unfortunately the OP in that thread didn’t have a Locator in their RFD Profile either )

If you are unfortunate enough to have a bad experience … report it to Costco … so they can evaluate better those they subcontract to

Have had a washer, dryer, deep freeze, fridge, and just this past Wed a dishwasher delivered. No problems whatsoever. They are very quick and take a lot of care. They will take your old appliance if you have it disconnected and ready to go. They take the packaging with them. Easy and quick.

We always make sure to have a clear path for them to make it as easy as possible. I also remove my vehicle from my driveway so they can have lots of room to work.

They are usually pretty good. My only complaint was for a washer/dryer return, they say to disconnect the washer/dryer but it was a stacked unit and very hard to get to the back without removing it. The guy said it's connected, sorry and started walking out the door! Lol never seen this before, I ran and got a wrench, scraped my arm up getting the water disconnected at the back to get it before the guy leaves. Got it just on time he was about to pack up, and I'm like it's disconnected. He finished the job but what an ass. I doubt this is a standard case, and I get that I didn't disconnect it before they came, but I was hoping they would pull it forward so I could easily disconnect it instead of stretching and scraping my arm up.

Don’t think this is a knock on them, they are a delivery service, not a “ help the customer remove appliances and delivery service”

Just had a dishwasher delivered yesterday. The delivery guys were a little rough around the edges (a few cuss words were dropped) but other than that the service was excellent. Didn't ding them on the phone survey either, we're all adults so the little bit of language was overlooked.

They took the old dishwasher as it was properly disconnected.

Lol it literally was the same two guys who installed the same washer dryer and _hooked_ up the water.

I believe that a lot of costco's online sold goods actually ship direct from the manufacturer's distributor, not costco.
Hvac advice warning - inaccurate information on forum, vested interests in selling builder's equipment. Selling dealer-only brands without being authorized is a red flag. Report to CRA if offered no tax cash-deal. If it's 2 good to b tru, it is.

Costco used a company called “Custom Delivery” to deliver the washer to me this Wed. Agree with another poster about being rough on handling, but nothing damaging (fortunately). They didn't help to put the foam plugs into the shipping bolt holes, but I guess that doesn't matter. Attitude was fine and was generally helpful. Could be better of course

Btw, they also called me when they were 5 min away. I booked the delivery appointment after the order status has changed to shipped. The online process is simple and I could check the delivery window online as well

My fridge delivered pretty quick amidst pandemic peak. They had no problem bringing down the new one (7 step stairs), but they were having such hard time hauling away the old unit. They almost gave up and leave when the unit stuck at the door. But I kept insisting it came in the same way so it should come out no problem. They've made few scratches and dents on the floor and the door frame, but I did not make a claim. For what it's worth, my old fridge was much heavier unit.

I ordered a deep freeze last year. Install service was supposed to be included but they just dropped it in the garage and left. Same with the fridge I ordered this year

In both cases, I ended up getting a $100 credit but it was a bit of a PITA.
Let's hug it out

As a couple of others have mentioned, Costco generally doesn't stock major appliances. They "drop ship", which means Costco places the order with the manufacturer/distributor and the appliance is delivered by whoever that manufacturer/distributor normally uses. Therefore, the appliances from Whirlpool Corp will be delivered by a different service from Bosch, etc. So you have to ignore everyone's comments because they may not apply to the specific brand you are looking at.

OP, tell us what brand of fridge you are looking at, and then ask people about their delivery experience from that specific brand.

you have to disconnect appliances, if they break it then you can't sue them for damages

That is very common requirement for appliances, not only Costco. I had to unplug my fridge for Leons, electric stove for Bestbuy. Those guys are just delivery guys, they are not paid as electrician or handyman, They work for delivery companies. Often I tipped extra.

Ya but doesn’t mean they can’t give a hand to assist. A stacked washer dryer weighs 600lbs I cannot move it off the wall otherwise to get to the back of it. What am I supposed to hire movers to move it and then disconnect? I’m just saying there could be some middle ground. Help move this 600lbs off the wall and I’ll disconnect.

That's EXACTLY what it means. Its against company policy to disconnect appliance because of the liability that comes with it.

Yes you are suppose to get help to complete your end of the contract.

There is no Middle Ground because of the insurance liability that comes with touching your water lines/electrical connections...

Why is that so hard to understand?

Ask a neighbour for help. Get some heavy nylon moving straps and wiggle it out of the space.

Somethings may happened to them, slip or trip, they are not insured for that. It has to do with company policies. They also have more delivery to complete, that is more important. Imagine they help one, then they will help all, their job description change, their salaries change, it is not gonna happen.

Ok I’ll concede, its a risk for them. But don’t get how they can install it, and removing it is the opposite but they can’t do it

Anyway other than that mostly good experience, they let you know a time range and either get calls or texts just before they are arriving and can see what # in line you are for the delivery (ie 10th delivery and they are at #5).
