Home/Car Insurance Shopping

I'm looking to find a new home/car insurance provider - TD Meloche Monnex got folded into TD Insurance and the 3% they started charging so I can pay in monthly installments is the last straw. Wasn't paying attention but found they've increased rates at about 10% a year for the past five years.

So I could go online and find cheaper rates - but there is an obvious problem. Even if the rate is low, when you have to deal with a claim - are they going to screw you? Are there insurance brokers who can find you better rates with reputable insurers? Most of the outfits I see seem to offer appallingly low rates - but who is good for the long term?

Go to the automotive forum. Plenty of threads and discussions there that is precisely what you're looking for. No point repeating all the info here.
