[Home Depot] Acacia Butcher Block Countertop - $99 - YMMV

EDIT: now OOS at Leaside location. You can check other locations with stock to see if they have the same clearance sticker price.

YMMV - I saw 9 of these Acacia butcher block countertops being cleared out at Home Depot at the Leaside location in Toronto for $99 (reg $189 online).

Size: 72”x25”x1.5”

Could be used as the top for a sit-stand desk as well.

Wow that’s a hot deal! I did my whole kitchen with these two years ago and they’ve been great.

I wonder if this would make a good tabletop for a rising desk.

I have this size for a desktop, and it works well. Plenty of space all around.

I did exactly that, I used one of those 2 part epoxies for the finish and turned the one counter into 2 desks, second one I did a bit of a glue-up on. Turned out great for my wife and I!

I am assuming this would be suitable for bathroom countertop? Never had natural wood as a countertop Face With Tears Of Joy

Yes. This will be great, most smaller tables come 20-25 inch depth anyways. You should measure / compare it to the one you use first before buying to make sure it is right for you. There are larger blocks with more depth but it becomes significantly more expensive.

I recently bought one of the $220 acacia butcher block which is the same size as this for my sit-stand desk.

I also bought 400 grit sandpaper and finished it with polyurethane. There are many cans between $40 - $60 to choose from (ask the HD paint department to show you which if you are unsure). Be prepared to spend an additional $70 to finish it prior to use (sandpaper $6 / polyurethane finish $45-58, and applicator for finish $8).

Damn that’s hot. I’ve had my eyes on that one for a while to replace my crappy melanine standing desk top. Maybe I should check my local Home Depot here in bc lol

it does, I have 6'x3' wide one cost me 200 buck, this is less wide but manageable.

I didn't seal it, just use the wood straight, and no big deal, maybe should seal it later

Oh, this is a pretty decent deal if you can find it.
They're quite prone to splitting so inspect carefully prior to purchase and select ones whose packaging is still intact. Heed the warning about finishing, all 6 sides, within 48 hours of opening the package.

Did my kitchen too 2 years ago with these when I balked at the quote I got for granite countertops. We were thinking of moving so we didn't see the logic in spending over $7000 over the $500 for these acacia tops.

I have to admit the joining of those tops did worry me but so far they have held up. They look great but you do have to baby them since they scratch easily. I ended up using the off cuts to make a couple of cutting boards that stays on the countertops for added protection.

I like the scratches and dents, looks like you actually use your kitchen. Then after 10 years you sand them down and start all over.

StockTrack doesn't have this pricing listed for any location including Leaside. I'd go to your local store and ask them to price match via price check over the phone and see if they'll go for it.

For anyone looking to use that tabletop as a standing desk, I made two out of it in 2021. They’re still great to this day, I sealed them with epoxy.
