Yes that was dumb of me, measured width instead of height. Thank you guys!

And thank you OP, I managed to price match through SMS. Free shipping too.

With the MyQ app, you can see the garage door open/closed status and history, and you can open or close the door (with a 15 second beeping and flashing warning about remote operation). Oddly you can't control the built-in light with MyQ, even though the wireless remote can.

With both Alexa and Google, you have to ask them to ask MyQ about the door status, or to close an open door. They won't permit remote door opening. However Alexa supports a free skill called SimpleCommands which can be connected to MyQ to allow both remote opening and closing with a voice-command routine.

if replacing another Chamberlain, is it pretty much plug and play for a novice DIY person? I heard the spring can kill you if not careful. Does it require tweaking the spring when replacing a garage opener?

Has anyone swapped out a chain drive Chamberlain Lift Master opener for one of these? Easy? Can I leave the T-rail in place and just swap out the garage door opener unit?

TIA

I found I could install a new Chamberlain in place of a 35 yr old Liftmaster and still re-use the old track because the bolt pattern is still the same. I only had to re-adjust the chain tensioner afterward. No need to touch the torsion springs on the door, although there's no need to be paranoid about replacing them too if you're careful to do it right. After all, you could accidentally fall on your screwdriver and stab yourself to death if you aren't careful. I don't know how they can sell screwdrivers without a warning label. :)

But obviously if you're replacing a chain with a belt, a few more changes will be needed.

Swapped out older Craftsman chain with Chamberlain belt. Easy peasy. Much faster job since you can use your old connectors on the door and whatever you are supporting opener with. I kept the working old openers fully intact and together with the new parts I didn’t need then sold them on Kijiji. Most time consuming is running new wiring for wall control and safety sensors but even that is optional.

The installation is $100-150 when going through homedepot/lowes right?
Its worth it imo. Just removing the old opener and rails is a pta. Person that did mine also did some drywall patchwork when replacing the old switch so pretty surprised with that.

I got this same one and I had this issue in the first week where the remote would only work intermittently, some of the reviews complained about the same thing. I was about to return it but then all of a sudden the issue just went away, must have downloaded a firmware update without realizing it. Been perfect for about a year now.

The one from Costco doesn’t have battery backup, but is similar otherwise.

Yes, there's no need to touch the garage spring or even the mount that's already there (It will most likely fit just fine).

Thanks OP.

Based on some of the questions/comments here:
Guys please GET HELP IF YOU’RE UNSURE.

Even just an extra set of hands and eyes. Cos we all know the DIY style is do it when no one’s looking. This is a fairly simple install, however, the hazards of an improper installation are pretty bad.

Wasn’t there a rfd member here a couple years ago that would install garage door openers in the gta that came highly recommended?

If anyone has his contact info that are willing to share please send a PM. Thanks in advance.
