Home Depot - change payment method from credit card to gift card/store credit?

Home Depot - change payment method from credit card to gift card/store credit?

Hi, does anyone know if you bring in a receipt, can you change payment method if still within the 90 day refund window? Rather than having to physically rebuy everything and then refund with the old receipt?
(I know for a fact Ikea does not allow this, which was annoying to have to work around it)

Also, does anyone know if store credit balance cards can be used online? Or only gift cards can be used online because they have the extra scratch security number?

ok so you want them to refund it from the credit card and charge it to the gift card? you might as well go in person and ask them, i suspect it varies by location,

You might be able to do it at the store without having to bring all the stuff in. They would have to do a refund on the original receipt then sell to you again on a new one using the new forms of payment. Keep in mind that if you had any deals or discounts on the original they might not be possible to transfer over. If you do go make sure to do it when they're not busy in returns to have a higher chance of them wanting to work with you on this.
