[Home Depot] DEWALT 165 ft. Green Self-Leveling Cross Line Laser Level with (3) AAA Batteries & Case

I am in the market for this item and asking my fellow RFD brothers on this item.

There's also this item, rather than GREEN LASER, it's RED.

I use Bosch self leveling laser, which does different patterns or grides, and it also mounts to a tripod, and was cheaper than this.

Bosch measurement tools are the gold standard in this segment.

From a brief google, it looks like the green version (more expensive) is just a little easier to see?

Of note, it looks like the green version is a dollar less at Lowe’s, so you could probably get that at Home Depot for 180 with price match.

Got this for use during layout of basement concrete footings and floor, to make walls parallel off an existing building etc. The 165ft mark is deceitful at best. It failed to throw 20ft during late afternoon hours/beginning of dusk (between 7-8pm), and it was almost complete dark before we could get the 60ft we needed. We ended up returning this unit with another from Amazon, which also had a third axis on it which worked much better functionally, and the laser was a bit brighter (but not by much). The Amazon special also came with a reflective green sighting card, which works a treat even in daylight, and super well when paired with green glasses.

This is the one from Amazon we went with: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B081DTZRMJ/ref ... asin_0_img

The RED laser didn't work as good as the GREEN Laser lights??

I picked this up when it went on sale at Canadian Tire back in March. It was this price, or perhaps lower (can't remember). Wish I knew about the 10% price match back then!

IMO it's fantastic. I'm doing a full reno in our basement to put a suite in and have used it to level courses of tile in a shower, base and upper cabinets, backsplash, closets, and for removing pieces of drywall in nice clean lines. I've used a cheaper Chinese/Amazon version of this and it's not nearly as sturdy and the red light is definitely not as user-friendly, except in low light. The green is so bright it's almost dazzling and it starts getting difficult to see marks etc when the laser is on it.

Battery life is pretty good. I'm using some pretty old Eneloop AAs and with both lasers on (you can enable horizontal, vertical, or both) you still get a couple hours of continuous use.

I've got the Bosch version and it cost a lot more than that.
Yes, you are correct. Did not focus on the "self-leveling-cross-line"
Thanks for not slamming me...lol

These are a construction industry standard.

The Green one came out a few years ago. All the gyprock guys switched

The red one dropped in price then. I remember I bought mine for around 99$.
I'm an electrician. Fine for my needs.

These are definitely professional grade, and very useful and easy to use. Highly recommend.
