[Home Depot] Dewalt DCD708C2 Atomic 20V Brushless cordless drill with two 1.5Ah Batteries, Charger and Bag $99!

Home Depot has this drill on sale, it was hidden in the store with no price tag...........

DEWALT ATOMIC 20V MAX Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact 1/2-inch Drill Driver w/ (2) Batteries 1.3Ah, Charger & Bag - Model # DCD708C2 Store SKU # 1001311468

Atomic is the compact and lightweight line from Dewalt, this particular model does not have a Hammer mode.
The link says two 1.3 Ah batteries, but mine came with two 1.5Ah batteries, these lower capacity batteries do not have a voltage check button, that is the only downside of this deal.

Have and love this drill. Really tempted to buy a new set, if only for the battery!

Think there have been $99 deals on larger capacity, even double packs.

If only for the battery is wait for those.

These are $11 more, but new compact 4ah battery - 2 pack

Is it worth to pay 50 extra for the hammer feature?

It depends on your usage case. It's great for drilling the occasional small hole in concrete/brick but beyond that you be much better of with a bigger hammer drill or a proper sds one.

Currently using a black&decker drill from Canadian Tire, worthwhile upgrade? Should I wait for a bundle with an impact driver to go on sale if they do? Speaking as a mid 20s guy with not a whole lot of gear in his toolbox, lol

In general or do you have a project in mind? In general, it's best to start with a set that includes a hammer drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw, circular saw, oscillating saw (aka. Multi tool). The hammer function of the hammer drill is so you can drill into concrete (need the right bits too). If you're planning big renovations, like flipping a home, go for a dewalt/Milwaukee/ridgid set, if it's occasional or your doing some renos here and there, go for a ryobi set. Ryobi's are great for 90% of homeowners and there are usually good deals and wide variety of tools for you to expand your set. But if you like nice stuff and can afford it, go for a better quality brand.

Is a hammer drill really that necessary? How often is one drilling concrete?

I’ve never needed to drill concrete. I went for a DeWalt drill without the hammer function. I don’t regret it.

I believe normal price was $149 at HD and CT does not carry the Atomic line

Thanks OP. Ordered
I have some really old drills, and I think it's time to upgrade. Wish I did before installing my new gazebo
