[Home Depot] Ecobee 3 Lite Smart Thermostat - Price match w/Visions $219>$167 + Rebate

Was looking for a new Smart Thermostat and this seems to have great reviews.

Home Depot normal price is $219

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ecobee ... 1001044207

Available locally at Visions for $189.

https://www.visions.ca/product-detail/6 ... ATE3LTC-02

My local HD matched and beat by 10% for rough total of 24% off. Has to be in a physical store available for pickup to get the extra 10%.

EDIT: Looks like has a rebate through Fortis, appears to be $100! Your province may vary.

Home Depot (and Ecobee website) now show same price of $189. Still a good deal (especially if you can get the $75 rebate).

Yes, supporting a Canadian company is a good enough reason and it actually works very well.

Yes, 3 Lite is missing an output to control equipment like humidifier or heat exchanger.
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Public Mobile $34 15GB, $11 250MB, 2x $5 50min/50text, $0 FPL home phone,
Fido $5 4GB plan with a free tablet.

Wait...isn't your humidifier unit pretty much attached to the furnace? I have a little knob that I can set the percentage at, but other than that, the water automatically comes on depending on what % I set it at.

The more expensive version can have that part controlled too? Not sure if that is worth the upgrade to the higher tier version.

Home depot has now matched visions price. 189.99.

I got the lite 2 yrs ago and have thought it always to be friendlier and nicer than my brother's nest. Andnfor geeks, the reportingnon the ecobee website is amazing.

But, this year, at my new house, I had an extra line ran to the furnace only to later discover the ecobee lite cannot control the humidifier. Ah well, had a manual one installed, BUT you got to remember our winters have temperatures all over, and it's important to set humidity according to outside temperature and humitity. Otherwise the "30%" will feel dry some days, and on others, cause condensation at the bottom of the windows.

Long story short, its an excellent unit, and I love the fact that the remote sensor sits in my master and it sets the house temp according to the remote, not the main unit, since it allows pretty fine tuning. (Or that I could set the fan to come on every hour for a bit to move the air around). And it can regulate humidity just using the AC in the summers too.

But when I get to it, I'll swap my ecobee to the more expensive model for the absolute perfect thermostat and hope that Generac doesn't mess anything up.

Hm. Interesting.
My problem is that no matter what I set the temp or humidity at, it won't be correct. In the summer, the temp is always higher on the second floor than the main floor.

In the winter if I set the humidity based on the second floor, the main floor will probably get too much heat and more humidity than the second floor.

It's always a losing game in my house. But I wonder if finer controls would make it better?

That's normal because warm air rises. Thermostat is on the main floor and controls the temperature there.

Home Depot already dropped their price to match Visions (and the Ecobee website), so there's no price match/low price guarantee anymore. Still a decent deal at $190.
