Seems like the steel is better for cutting into ice/heavier snow. It advertises it can launch 40' while the current rubber one says 35'.
The newer one also comes with 2x 7.5 ah batteries

I was digging into this some more and I think the Rona site descriptions are wrong.
Steel will be better at biting into tough-packed snow and ice. Think of the snow-plough mounds at the end of your driveway.

The rubber ones are preferred for "concrete driveways" .... eg for stamped or exposed aggregate.

Are the SNT2114 models considered the older ones?Jucius Maximus wrote: ↑ I was digging into this some more and I think the Rona site descriptions are wrong.
SNT2405 and SNT2114 do include batteries.
Please refer to iGoCordless for the correct descriptions.
SNT2114 = Single Stage Gen2 + 2 x 7.5 Ah batteries + single rapid charger
SNT2405 = Two Stage Gen1 + 2 x 7.5 Ah batteries + double slow charger

Good, but I'd only use that thing on a trimmer or lower leaf blower.

There should be a manufactured date on the battery. It won't necessary tell you how many times it has been charged, but at least you can have some peace of mind knowing that it was manufactured recently.
