The Oct 2018 date should be no problem since it's using the battery and draining it to Red that seems to kill Lithium Batteries. Since your battery has not been used it will be fine. And use the regular black slow charger whenever possible to prolong battery life. If you do not have one from other EGO tools, they can be found between $50-$60 quite easily on Kijiji.

I have a 5ah battery from 2016 and it is still working fine. Again, key is to not let them fully die from use before re-charging. Cheers.

I'll be sure to fill out the warranty card soon.
Scary part is, I bought the LM2102SP a few weeks ago and the battery has an October 2018 date on it.

You are all welcome.
Thank you for sharing. That trimmer is the carbon version?

So after getting a solid deal on the snowblower I figured it was a perfect time to update my existing tools with what was left at my local HD in MB.

Should've been $904 total but the same super nice manager knocked off an additonal $200 and threw in a FREE brand new 5Ah battery she had in storage!!!! To boot, I sold off all of my old ego products for damn close to what it cost me to upgrade with a fresh warranty all around and new batteries/chargers!

LB5300
ST1521S
LM2101
+ Free 5Ah Battery (w/ fuel gauge!)

All for $704! Not complaining!

For me, this is the deal of the year!

You have 3 year battery warranty from the purchase date. Contact eGO within the warranty period if battery doesn't perform the way it should and they have to deal with it...

I just looked at the box, it does not say its the carbon version, so I would say it's not. Is there much difference? I assume its the weight? warranty? use?

Bought my dad the LM2102SP. After reading the comments a little concerned. Didn’t realize it was 2 year old model and doesn’t have a brushless motor. Also even more surprised to read the cutting and blade discussions. Every gas mower I’ve owned has been adequate in either mulching, side or bag discharge. I would think this would the same out of the box for the price. Otherwise there’s no point jumping in if the technology can’t deliver. The blowers, trimmers, and other hand ego cordless tools seem to deliver and are proficient for their respective tasks. Have to question the lawn mowers and snow blowers. I don’t want to get into playing with blade configuration. Ride out the gas mower for another year maybe two for things to advance. Box is still sealed and unsure

Dear home Depot...
Give me the snow blower deals dangit!!

Also..
I have an interlocking brick driveway... Would the new steel parts cause me trouble? Are you able to adjust the height on these snowblowers?
