I went to checkout and decided at the last minute not to order because the shipping cost was $9.24 then came back here to check the comments, I guess it's not that pricey after all

Hmm.. Bought my parents a christmas tree from there in December so have a $25 off $100 coupon to be used in early January so I might go and grab one of those and add some other stuff. Have some old aluminium ladders and keep telling my dad we should scrap them because the arms are not very solid/stable on them but my dad is one that doesn't throw stuff out so might need to just make them disappear...

I wonder if that will work because someone quoted "free parcel shipping" .... Imagine this wouldn't be concerned a parcel but odd shape/size/...

Trust me; with owning a house, you'll need a ladder at some point, and this one is a great price. Standing on kitchen chairs to change lightbulbs is a recipe for disaster.
You may also want to consider one of the adjustable extension multi type ladders similar to this one. Multi Ladder Step ladders are a bad idea on uneven surfaces, such as lawns.

I have seen those, they look interesting. I have a light bulb thats about 15 foot high. Maybe it is good to have both ladders?? i can start with this one and wait for a deal on one similar to the one you posted

Contrary to popular belief, fiberglass ladders aren't meant to be lighter, but instead to help prevent conducting electricity. They are usually heavier than the same height & weight rated aluminum ladder.

I couldn't find a 250lb rated aluminum ladder to directly compare, but this 6 foot aluminum ladder rated fro 225lbs is only 13.5lbs: https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.alum ... 19052.html

You can use a ladder with a lower rating, as they have safety margins. However, I find that the non-step legs tend to want to creep when you get close to maximum rating, especially the fibreglass ones. Best just get a proper rating for your needs.

Canadian Tire has them on sale frequently. There are many different brands of multi ladders, the best, IMHO, is Little Giant, but Featherlite has some good ones as well. Buy the 21' extension size, (because they don't sell stretchers ;) )
