[Home Depot] Home Depot YMMV, Ring Doorbell 1st gen, black or silver $114.50.

Was just at out local Home Depot and they have the Ring Doorbell, clearance priced at $114.50, tag said it was originally $229. In the cage the shelf tag was marked $299, to $229, then 50% off taken at the till. This was the Chatham store, they had lots...
Didn't see this deal posted, sure, it's the 1st gen, and there are newer ones coming, but for $115 I thought I'd give it a try.

Just looked BB has it for $229 as well, you could try to PM but I think they only sell it online, which is a pain...

Electronic receipt attached.

Damn, that would have been nice... that's half of the half... Hmmm, too bad they're caged, would be nice to hide one somewhere waiting for another price drop error

Pro = 1080p, hard-wired power only, customized motion zones
1st Gen = 720p, hard-wired or battery, distance control for motion detection only

Those are the biggest differences IMO.

I thought I read somewhere that the Pro was better at handling sub zero temperatures as well. Actually not sure if it was the Ring Pro or the Skybell HD that was referred to.

Batteries can come out without removing entire device. Very similar to pro.

Anyone who wants to buy Ring, remember that all the data that Ring gathers (including video and audio) gets routed through China. There was a megathread on reddit about this and a software engineer from Ring actually came to try and explain that but couldn't explain why all the data is being routed through China.

So if you value your privacy, maybe not go with a Ring device.

I'm curious how the 50% off was applied? Was this just automatically at the cash, or was it advertised??
