Warm enough for those who are upgrading. Remember these are not encrypted.

Theoretically, it could make it easier for an attacker to take control of your lights/network.

Might not seem like much, but they do make other Kasa accessories (including cameras) so it’s concerning to come people.

The big brain move is to set these up to have local access only, then use home assistant to run everything.

Live my Kasa switches.

Have the dimmers, 3-way, smart plugs and plain switches. Google integration works great and so do scenes.

Just remember to check your installation before buying - especially if you have an older home.

These WILL NOT WORK unless you have a three wire installation with access to a neutral. Without a neutral you have to buy a much more expensive switch elsewhere.

What do mean to set those up to have local access only? You mean close down internet access to those devices at the router?

Correct. Most modern routers and even some ISP provided routers are able to block specific devices from internet access while remaining on the LAN.

Soooo..... there is still that rumour that TP-LINK is going to pull the plug on the KASA line. Is it true or has it been refuted?

Still no confirmation from TP-Link USA/Canada. It does seems to be gone from the EU though.

That being said, they have officially started work for supporting Kasa products on their Tapo app so I don't expect anyone would lose any functionality going forward. And if you've got a home assistant setup, there is basically no impact at all.
