What do you use these for? I have other Packouts but never picked any of these up because it doesn't seem like an ideal size.

small things you want sorted: screws, washers, wire nuts, etc. There's definitely cheaper options if you dont need the packout system.

You aren't paying $30 for the formed plastic.

You're paying $5 for the formed plastic and $25 for how seemlessly it integrates into the rest of your kit.

That's basically high-margin vendor-lock-in ripoff. :)

When something is made in China, it's pretty clearly marked. How come stuff made in Israel, doesn't get marked??? passs.

These containers are the best way to move your tools around as a professional. They are super strong and durable.

You will always pay more for the best no matter what you buy and we will use all the mental gymnastics to justify what we like/want/need.

Looks similar to the plastic tray that raspberries come in.

Everybody try to keep on topic so you don't give the mods more work to do

There is a half-size tool box that you can stick this to the top or bottom of and store fasteners or bits. You can also stick this to the top of a regular box and open and close the box lid while this stays attached, which is cool. It's not big enough to store every fastener you own, but if you do a job requiring a couple sizes of washer, an o-ring, a couple pex fittings, tape, and glue gun sticks, you could fit a job's worth of stuff in here.

The price isn't crazy because there are much worse parts organizers out there. This one is waterproof and won't crack when dropped like all the cheap clear ones in stores. Good deal for people who need it, thank you for sharing

Have a link or recommendation for a cheaper non Milwaukee option?

This is useful for actual trades people - not the diyer/home owner doing renos.

Also seems not useful for those that work on their cars themselves.

I really wanted to buy cheaper brand options but the quality is so bleh. They’d likely do the job to be fair but I just like things that have some quality to them

It's actually 16 pieces of plastic, one of which is polycarbonate, three or four pieces of steel, and an EPDM foam rubber gasket. But who's counting?

I did a fairly thorough look for cheaper alternatives for portable small parts organization (specifically electronic terminals) and tool storage and ended up going with the Milwaukee. The other tool brands make similar containers, but they cost just as much. Stanley also makes some good small parts organizers but they cost a similar amount, don't clip together, and aren't as durable as the Packout ones. They seem better for very small parts, but there's an easy mod you can do to the packout version to divide the bins into quarters rather than the default halves.

Anyways, this is what you're paying for:
  • Thick, durable plastic
  • Clear lid (not translucent, but actually clear)
  • Bins that don't allow parts to transfer between them when the lid is closed
  • Gasketed IP65 weather sealing
  • Solid latches
  • Interlocking design
If you have a comparable alternative I would love to see it. But I'm willing to bet that it's made of flimsy plastic and won't hold up to abuse and the fit and finish won't be at all comparable. Whether or not you need these features is irrelevant; others do and that's why they cost so damn much. They're meant for getting beaten up on the jobsite and you're not the target market.

honestly I googled around and sub-$30 isn't really out there unless you do the super-cheap aliexpress/amazon style ones. Even the Stanley ones are ~$40. If you want something a bit less secure you could always grab a cheap flimsy plastic compartment case, like this: https://www.amazon.ca/DUOFIRE-Organizer ... B07HHZ2YTS (not recommending it at all, its pretty small anyways, just an idea of what you can look for) or something like this https://www.homedepot.ca/product/stanle ... 1001405591

the Milwaukee isn't as bad a deal as everybody may think. It's actually pretty good deal after you made me do some searching lol I might grab one or two.

Craftsman has their own system but is only marginally cheaper and definitely inferior.

Canadian tire, if you can believe, has a very similar system but is lacking in variety and can get cheap on sale. I was very close to buying it tbh.

Princess auto has the tactix brand which is a step down from Craftsman but really feels cheap.

The best option below Milwaukees is the DeWalt tough system which I would've gotten except I can't deal with black boxes for storing shit. Everything gets lost because a lot of tools and accessories are black. Good luck finding stuff unless you're OCD about organization. It's about 20% cheaper and is great otherwise.

That company in Israel makes Klein, Milwaukee, flex, and potentially makita's design, but they're all about the same cost.

My friend dropped his Milwaukee packout down a flight of stairs and it survived unharmed. That's why I got them and have been very satisfied despite the one drawback of having to unstack it, which if you're in the business isn't really that big a deal. I've bought the front facing box and drawers to mitigate that issue. If you're an old timer in the trades, you'd know how bad it was back in day without something like this to move your tools around.
