While the price is good, you can't do much crap with this i.e crown moldings etc. Save your money and buy a better product.

Why wouldn't this work for crown moulding?

Kind of curious myself since 1001235328 is a 12" sliding miter saw.

I purchased the 12" when it was on sale a month or so back. Think they'd let me go in with my receipt and get the stand now free?

Wouldn’t hurt to ask. Worse case scenario is to rebuy the saw and get the free stand and return the newly bought saw with your old receipt.

How does the Ridgid compare to a similar Milwaukee? I am a big fan of Milwaukee after the M12 screwdriver I bought a few months ago.

Been waiting for this deal. Hopefully by the time I go, I can get that cordless one and return the stand.

Milwaukee miter saws are ok, but not the best. I would consider Makita, DeWalt and Bosch better. Never used a Ridgid, but for the average homeowner it will be fine, especially with the Lifetime Service Agreement.

You need to figure out if you will actually benefit from using the stand. If you are going to be doing a lot of repetitive cuts where you need to setup a stop block, you would want a full length back fence on your workbench. You can also build in storage shelves under the miter saw and build a proper dust collection system. The biggest problem with miter saws is their inability to properly collect sawdust.
The stand is great as it allows portability, but it is also limiting (I feel the same about battery powered miter saws). If you have the space, a workbench with a built in miter station will cost the same and provide more versatility.

Can anyone confirm the return value of the stand is the full value?
Seems like pretty good deal to return that if it is.
On the market for a decent but not too expensive mitre saw...would rather this one that a Mastercraft!

Ran some quick numbers:

RIDGID Professional Compact Miter Saw Stand
Stocktrack

RIDGID 15 Amp Corded 12-Inch Dual Bevel Mitre Saw
Stocktrack
Combo Price: $348
Tool return value: $203.3
Stand return value: $144.7

RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 7-1/4-inch Mitre Saw (Tool-Only)
Stocktrack
Combo Price: $399
Tool return value: $246
Stand return value: $153

RIDGID 15 Amp Corded 12-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw
Stocktrack
Combo Price: $597
Tool return value: $422
Stand return value: $175

If you are looking for only the stand. It's best to buy the $348 deal and return the tool. The stand will only cost you $144 vs $175 if you return the tool on the $597 deal.

About 6 months ago, HD had the Milwaukee 6955-20 with a similar style stand for $499 which makes this deal seem pretty weak by comparison although it's likely the best deal going at the moment. I'd venture to guess that patience would likely be rewarded to those that can wait however.
