[Home Depot] RIDGID March / April Promo -- Buy a Select RIDGID Tool, Get a FREE 2Ah/4Ah Starter Kit -- Ends May 18th

A good sign that spring is around the corner, Home Depot is kicking off the usual RIDGID tool / battery starter kit promo. Starts today (March 3rd), and there are pics in the weekly flyers as well.

As noted in the latest weekly flyer, some price increases are incoming (and noted below). There's always a chance that other prices may increase that aren't published in advance, so if you've been meaning to make a purchase now is not a bad time.

Buy a Select RIDGID Tool, Get a FREE 2Ah Starter Kit ($149 value)
  • RIDGID 18V Brushless Sub-Compact Cordless 3-inch Multi-Material Saw (Tool-Only) with (3) Cutting Wheels - $159

  • RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless Sub-Compact 1/2-inch Drill/Driver (Tool Only) - $148

Buy a Select RIDGID Tool, Get a FREE 4Ah Starter Kit ($199 value)
  • RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 18-Gauge 2-1/8 -inch Brad Nailer (Tool Only) with CLEAN DRIVE Technology - $299
  • RIDGID 18V OCTANE Cordless Brushless 1/2-inch Impact Wrench (Tool Only) with Belt Clip - $189
  • RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 7-1/4-inch Mitre Saw (Tool-Only) - $348

  • RIDGID 18V OCTANE Cordless Brushless Jig Saw (Tool Only) - $189
  • RIDGID 18V Cordless Brushless HYPERDRIVE 16-Gauge 2-1/2-inch Straight Finish Nailer (Tool Only) - $349
  • RIDGID 18V OCTANE Cordless Brushless 1-inch SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer (Tool Only) - $319 (increasing to $349)

  • RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 7-1/4-inch Circular Saw (Tool Only) - $179 (increasing to $199)

Points for discussion:
  • One of the main draws of this promo is the ability to return the battery kit to lower the overall price paid for the tool. However, there were / are reports that Home Depot is cracking down on this, so would appreciate any reports on success / failure.
  • If pursuing the return, best practice is to not show the receipt but just present the battery kit with your credit card -- they can look up the CC and issue the return without the receipt. I've had a lot of success with this method but it may depend on store or agent. Note: this only works for in-store purchases, and not online purchases.
  • What tools are you getting? The brushless 6-1/2" circular saw is a brand new release, and I'm keen on picking one up.
  • Don't forget to register your purchases for Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) within 90 days. LSA also covers batteries against diminished capacity which a is a great benefit of going with RIDGID.
  • Curious about which tools are new this year, or what is still to be released? Enjoy some promotional material here.

Which impact wrench is good for doing tire changes?

How does one calculate how much they’ll get back if they return the battery/charger?

I have the impact, it's more than capable of handling tire changes. Just remember these should be torqued to manufacturer specs.

You want to figure out the value of the battery as a proportion of the tool and battery combined, and then use that as a discount percentage.

Pulled this from an earlier thread:

Tool Value + Battery Value = Toolbattery
Battery Value / Toolbattery = DISCOUNT
DISCOUNT * Tool Value = return price of battery

Looks like this one on the deal might be the same? https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ridgid ... 1000785199
Would work out to be $10 cheaper
The product you ordered a month ago INCLUDES a 4ah battery and charger. The second item you listed is the tool only. I think the battery and charger are worth more than $10 unless you don't need the battery and will be using the "return the battery" trick to bring down the price.

Really good deal on the 1/2 impact wrench. I have the stubby 3/8 which has just enough power to do wheel changes but if I didn't have it I'd be all over this one.

This thread is about, "order a tool, get a free battery and charger". So, the 2nd item WOULD come with a charger and battery.

Yeah, the model numbers look the same other than one being the kit SKU. I'd cancel the one that hasn't shipped and pick up one with this deal. And yeah, saving $10 too.

They just came out with the 6 1/2" subcompact circular. I personally am going to pick that one up.
The older 6 1/2" is on clearance at most HDs.

Was actually pretty shocked by the results from that video. Seems that the Rigid punches wayyy above its weight.

There's two impacts available:

RIDGID 18V SubCompact Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 1/2-inch Impact Wrench (Tool Only) with Belt Clip - $167

and

RIDGID 18V OCTANE Cordless Brushless 1/2-inch Impact Wrench (Tool Only) with Belt Clip - $189

Questions:

Is the SubCompact sufficient for wheel changes. Is the full size worth an extra $22?

EDIT:

I went for the big one - thanks y'all

It all depends on the store/manager/return associate. I personally haven't had any issues at my store (Niagara) but every year it seems more and more of them are saying no.

Yes.
Usually the lug torque is less than 100 ft./lbs. Mine is 89 ft./lbs.

Subcompact is sufficient but if you're not using it for any other purpose where you're working in tight confines I would definitely just get the full size version
