The 18v cordless brad nailer (tool only) is also on sale for $149. I bought it along with the $59 driver kit since it was the cheapest way to get a battery for the nailer.

Only a 1.5AH battery, that doesn't even have a button to see the charge. Might have been worth it to shell out $160 for the charger + 2 4 AH batteries (Unless you don't mind charging regularly)

Picked this up for this price a couple weeks back. It's not a sale price. It's the new lower regular price.

This is actually a repost in Hot Deals but i suspect its a Ryobi Days price and will go back to regular price at some point.
They did this for the weedwacker a couple years back, i thought it was the new low price but went back up to regular price just before i bought it.
In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people

New homeowner here. Is this a decent drill for someone with limited to no knowledge of home improvement.

I bought an earlier model of this 5 years ago @fluid as I was in the same situation. It lasted this long and I've now upgraded after I know more about what I am doing. I now use the drill to run my grain mill for brewing beer. It worked for me, should work for you.

This is a great drill for the average homeowner. I have a much older Ryobi and a Milwaukee M12. While I love the size of the M12, it is also much less powerful and the other tools in the lineup cost much more. Ryobi tools are very affordable and of great quality for the average home owner.

Rigid also makes great tools and come with a lifetime warranty (including batteries). This may be of interest to you and some would be willing to pay a premium for it because of that. Just remember you have to register your tool for the warranty to take effect.

Overall, I would recommend the Ryobi sets to an average homeowner. If you are doing a lot of driving of screws (building decks, fences, sheds, etc.) you may want to get an impact driver. They will drive screws much quicker. A drill does an adequate job it just takes longer (so matters if you are doing 500 screws in a single sitting, not if you are hanging curtains).
