[Home Depot] Snow Joe Cordless Snow Shovel (24-Volt, 10-Inch, 5-Ah XR) - $128

Home Depot currently has for sale the Snow Joe 10-inch 24V Cordless Electric Snow Shovel Kit with 5.0 Ah Battery + Charger for $128, $50 or 28% off its regular price. This Home Depot sale is for Model # 24V-SS10-XR which includes the 5-Ah battery as opposed to the standard model 24V-SS10 that comes with a 4-Ah battery. This lithium-ion operated electric snow shovel is a great little tool for smaller removal jobs such as sidewalks, decks and the like. While it could be used for a driveway, it would take quite a bit of time and too much effort there. This unit can get through light to somewhat packed snow, it has a more difficult time with iced or deeply frozen packed snow in my experience. It did an admirable job for me last winter on my decks and sidewalks, however.

Thanks to @juinny for the reminder, "Don't forget another $10 from Home Depot when you sign up for email newsletter when you buy in store."
Also don't forget to use Rakuten if purchasing online from Home Depot or Walmart for 1% cashback.

The standard 4-Ah model 24V-SS10 is also available from the following if Home Depot runs out of stock:

$129 - Amazon.ca (lowest price to date according to ccc)
Save $40.97 (24%) Was $169.97
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07HQNXVZQ

$129 - Walmart
Save $40.97 (24%) Was $169.97
https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/snow-joe-2 ... 0200355491

Here's a bit of it's write-up:

  • 2-blade high-impact, low-temperature paddle auger throws snow up to 20 feet and cuts a 10 in. x 6 in. path

Powered by Snow Joe's exclusive iON 24-Volt lithium-ion battery system, 24V-SS10 delivers up to 25 minutes of battery runtime to quickly clear snow from your porch, patio, steps, sidewalk, and more. The light choice is the right choice with Snow Joe! This thing is only good for fresh dry snow. And for that matter, even a leaf blower could do the job easily.

Not sure I agree. While it is certainly harder to use on packed snow, I did so all last winter and it worked mostly fine. It has done an admiral job clearing both of my decks and my long sidewalk to the driveway. Tried it on the driveway too, but it's just too narrow to be of use there as it'd take forever. Otherwise, I much preferred using this in addition to my dual handled snow shovel which is still needed to break up harder ice or frozen areas.

I am a big fan of Snow/Sun Joe products.. but this looks cheesy.. Can't think of much use for it, I would rather use the shovel for these small jobs..

As discussed this one is for lighter duty. I see in Walmart's flyer they have a 40v, 18" belt on sale at $299 from $449. Thinking of getting this plus 10% match with HD for $270. Anyone have one to comment?

I appreciate that a bigger unit would be better for a driveway, no question, but there's no way I'd want to use one of those on a regular sized deck, porch or even some of my sidewalks or foot paths. Spending $130 on this smaller unit that does a quick job in those areas is a lot different than spending $300 on the larger one as each have their specific uses. Not saying I wouldn't purchase a larger unit, of course, but for a different purpose.

Just realized the Home Depot model is 24V-SS10-XR that comes with the extended 5-Ah battery, as opposed the standard 24V-SS10 model that comes with the 4-Ah battery that's on sale at Amazon.ca and Walmart. Updated the OP... should have realized that earlier.

The second video looks to be a different product based on the video description.

Thanks, didn't catch that. The video looks very similar to the 24V-SS10 I use. His experience also looked about the same as mine when I do my deck so I assumed it was this unit. Will remove from OP.

From experience, these electric snow shovels are useless and are a waste of money.
  • Battery life is horrible
  • Way heavier compared to just a shovel
  • Noise
  • Slow/narrow clearing width
If you have a small deck and porch, just use the dam shovel, it is simpler and just as quick if not quicker, looking at that guy positioning the tool around just to clear the stairs was sad.

OP, how is the battery? Ad says 24 mins but how much run time in actual test?
Anyone can comment on the quality of the battery if one should expect to replace the battery every couple years?

I don't want to use a damn shovel... I like my Snow Joe and I don't find it useless in the least as it really helps deal with snow thanks to my bad back. Its not that heavy either in my experience.. but it does do a narrow 10" path that requires a few passes on a sidewalk. Respect your opinion, just don't agree with it.

I'd say around a half hour is accurate (I don't want to shovel longer than that). Again, I wouldn't try to do a driveway with this model as it'd take way too long with its narrow path. This worked great multiple times, however, doing my 20x30ish back deck, smaller entrance front deck, front porch with 2 steps and the sidewalk leading to my driveway on each charge last winter. Can't comment on longevity of the battery as I have only owned it for a year. I'd expect, compared to my other battery operated tools, it'd last around 4-5 years or so with diminishing runtime around that mark.

Don't worry OP, everyone's situation is different. I have this and have a single lane driveway. As long as you don't let it pile up more than 4-5 inches it does pretty well. You just push the snow, no need to shovel. Work out a system where you will be throwing snow and not onto neighbour's. Don't buy this for a suburban driveway...

On days where there's blizzard, I had to go out multiple times (to not let the snow pile up). But finished the job in less than 10mins each time.

I'm content with this product since it does not take up much storage space and I bought a sun joe hedge trimmer which was compatible with battery.

Yes sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I have something against people with accessibility issues. This could be legitimately useful for them. I guess I was going for if you have nothing wrong with you and want to be lazy this doesn't make it easier.

No need to be sorry, but thanks... wasn't offended or anything. My experience with one of these is clearly different than yours and that's cool. I'd recommend this for anyone up there in age, like me, and those who have back issues (unfortunately, also like me). Previous to last year, without this, I had an increasingly hard time getting to snow removal and my wife had to step up to help which I hated (she didn't mind, I just hated the reason why). This Snow Joe allowed me some control back as I've always somewhat enjoyed shoveling in the winter... somewhat. ;)
