[Home Depot] Warm - Ridgid Octane circular saw - $135

My circular saw crapped out on me. I noticed home depot in Heartland was clearing these out (YMMV). It doesn't come with a battery, so keep that in mind.

Stocktrack still shows $170, but there were about 10 - 15 units all marked down to $135 when I picked one up yesterday.

I noticed it in Saint John as well. I considered it but I only have 2Amp hour batteries, probably not good enough for the saw and didn't want to invest into 4Amphour batteries. I decided to get a used corded DeWalt DWE575SB for $65 on FB market place. So far, I'm pleased.

Upvoted for a good deal if you need it. I got this saw during the winter promo where you buy a battery starter kit and get a bare tool for free. So far so good, I like it.

If you participate in the free 4.0Ah starter kit promo, return the kit, you can get the newer version of this saw for around $90. Idk if the newer version of this saw is better or worse than the older octane version.

Thanks, I saw that this morning. It seems like the octane series is more powerful, but it was hard to judge the difference from the product descriptions (aside from the octane having a marginally deeper cutting depth)

Anyone have any insights if the octane series is worth the premium?

the only reason octane was discontinued because it challenged m18 fuel for often half the price, owned by the same company TTI.

Yeah, I just found this video explaining that octane is being discontinued:

It sounds like the brushless line is supposed to be the replacement for octane, so maybe the other saw with the free (returnable) battery is a better option:

This was clearance for 89 in Markham East store. Decided to go for the new brushless and return battery for same price in the end.

New one is supposed to be much better based on what I've read.

Can you share a link to the review you read?

Thanks.
