Found a Ryobi 18V Planer in the clearance section, looks brand new sealed. Store staff confirm it's new and check the price for me on his computer, surprisingly it shows $24.84 instead of $94.98, picked it up with 20% off coupon which bring the price down to $22.78. Website shows Richmond Hill (5) and GERRARD SQUARE (15) have them in stock, though the discount could be store-specific.

Haha, well there was 0 chance I'd go out and get it but I was wondering what it even does :p

So it's a saw, right?

I could use a drill and/or impact driver, waiting for a killer deal as I don't need them urgently

It is more to "slice off" layers from lumber. Not the most popular tool for an average DIYer

Kind of off topic, and I know it's not really meant for this, but how hard would it be to square a long piece of wood (8ft long) with this?

I've been waiting for a sale on a jobsite planer (looking for a budget one - either ridgid, kings canada, or the craftsman), but i've got a few projects that I want to get started on.

This deal is specific to whatever store the OP went to, it scans at $94 at other stores.

From what I have seen, store specific home depot deals usually have the manager's yellow tag on them with a separate bar code.

This is for taking off thin layers of wood, like leveling off a door. If you are taking off a lot of wood a saw will be a better choice, probably a table saw would be best for what you are describing.

I have the old blue planer from Ryobi from years ago, handy to small jobs, works well...

Where can I get this coupon, that will work as a scan, is that how it's being used?
The first rule of RFD is, you do not talk about RFD.

The second rule of RFD is, you DO NOT talk about RFD.

The one on High Tech Rd and Yonge St ... you know, the one where they declared an outbreak of 15+ infected employees.

Hence the clearance and ample stock across the board on a wide range of inventory.

They were one of the few stores that had ample stock of Miracle-Gro soil, Kingsford charcoal, etc., etc.
