Home Energy Audit cost summary

I called all of the places in Toronto that do home energy audits and here is the list of prices. You can find the list of contractors that operate in your area here (you have to enter your postal code):
http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/pers ... visors.cfm

The first number is for the initial inspection, the second number is for the followup inspection.

Abor group 300 & 125
carson dunlop 325 & 195
ridge energy 325 & 175
AET consultants 350 & 175
Commonplace Eco-village 300 (includes followup but they don't do Toronto)
Building Insight 350 & 195
EnerTest Corporation 345 & 175
Home NRG 350 & 150
Direct Energy 350 & 150
Energuy 350 & 150
Pro Home & Building Inspections Inc 300 & 150
Homestar Energy Solutions 300 & 150
Greensaver 299 & 175

None of the above prices include HST (13%) so you will have to also include this. Most of the companies that charge $350 will have a $50 discount if you are recommended to them by a specific contractor. You can probably get the name of the contractor if you ask them to recommend a furnace contractor, then call back and say you were recommended to them by that contractor. Or just call and beg.

I hope this is helpful to someone - if you know prices for other auditors, or have feedback for specific auditors, feel free to post them here. I left messages for another 6 auditors so I will post their prices when they call me back.

It's over federally, but it's still going on in Ontario until March 31 2011.

sorry for digging up a slightly old thread...but with the Federal rebates back, does anyone have recommendations for Energy Auditors in the GTA?

FYI, The Ontario Home Energy Audit Program is an energy conservation program offered by the Government of Ontario that will show you how and where your home loses energy. The Government of Ontario will pay 50% of your Home Energy Audit, up to $150.

Need to bring this thread back to life as the Ontario rebates are back.
https://ohecip.ca/

Any recommendations for assessments in Oakville/Mississauga area for a low cost assessment?

In my case I'm looking at attic insulation ($500), air sealing ($150), water heater ($500), furnace ($1250), and maybe windows ($80 each), maybe basement insulation ($1250).

Hi, did you move forward with any further research on this? I might be calling some to get quotes, hopefully not much have changed in terms of audit cost from 2011. Let me know if you have further information to share please.

Nope, I've been getting quotes for the GreenOn attic and window rebates.

resurrecting an old thread.

I'm interesting in getting this done for the enbridge program.

I called Pro Home & Building Inspections Inc which now charge 679 including taxes for pre and post.

I guess I get back 550 from enbridge for it once completed
just wondering if anyone found any other inspectors that offer better pricing/service?

Thanks,

Stay far, far, away from them IMO.

We had them do an audit as part of a furnace replacement in 2017, and the save-on energy program with enbridge.

They never gave us a copy of the energy audit, after lots of follow-up (over months), and ghosted us on two different appointments for the post test. We did get the rebates, but they had very little to do with it.

Their phone numbers at the time, 416-651-7778 & 647-641-4541.

So yea, not very reputable.
