Home gym equipment is selling out quick, Most things out of stock and Price gouging on Kijiji

Since the gyms are closed, I assume many people went out and bought strength training equipment alike benches and dumbbells. Or well in my case that's what I'm after. I looked online and it seems walmart, amazon and local fitness stores are sold out of bowflex selecttech adjustable dumbbells. I called one fitness place and they are sold out Canada wide. Same with moderate quality benches.

I went on kijiji looking for these used and they were costing as much as brand new, so I thought I'd look some more but now everywhere is oos and kijiji is sold out (Alberta). But I saw one on kijiji where the guy was asking $2800 lol.

I wonder if people will return to gyms after they open back up. I want to get some strength training equipment at home but going to the gym and working out is a different experience and I would go back.

I was just looking for the same stuff. People taking advantage of the situation. At first I was looking to see what else it came with and started sending reasonable pre-covid price offers then getting laughed at in return without realizing.

Too light. But some people might buy it. Anything heavier is like impossible to find right now.

My guess is there will be some strong deals to be had when all these people who were in a rush to grab equipment (plates, dbs, etc), will eventually fall off the quarantine workout wagon and all this equipment becomes an eyesore in their homes.

Sportchek still has stock on plates and some bars, you can easily get outfitted for a better price than what people are trying to gouge on Kijiji and FB marketplace. I can't really blame those individuals though, they are selling high and anyone who has the money to pay those exorbitant prices knows they are paying a premium.
