I guess it depends on coverage and value of your stuff. Was told $40/month is the common rate (for a small condo or townhouse).

My rental is about $1900 per year. Our family home is about $1200. With Intact for both, not the very cheapest, but their service is second to none, and I am willing to pay for it.

We pay $75/m with TD Meloche, that's for fairly average coverage and we added sewer backup due to the age of the house.

about 1100 / yr for our family home

it'll vary a bit, and you pay a premium if you have a wood burner in the house (like we do) & some insurers won't touch you.

+1 for Intact, we have all our cars + home insurance with them.

we pay around $80/m (with car/home/other stuff discounts applied) but hard to say since the house itself has many variables and also what your coverage is will affect the price.

+2 for intact. You can get tons of discounts and customize your package. They are equivalent to Bell without the price gouging. Not as cheap as the smaller companies but worth it due to their service, packages and reputation. You can go the cheap route for tv or internet but insurance is much more serious so go with the best.

If you live in a city a townhome would be about 800 to 1000 for a basic package which in itself is still very comprehensive. A car would be about the same range depending on age and model.

I pay $21.50 per month with Meloche Monnex, for a condo-townhouse. Also bundled with my car insurance.
Of course with any condo some aspects of home insurance are already included with the monthly maintenance fee you pay.

Canadian Direct for detached house. $784 (monitored alarm, no earthquake) $1218 (monitored alarm with earthquake) $1845 (no alarm with earthquake - last year) I got an online quote with BCAA and it was more. Also have discount having auto insurance with them. I bought an alarm on ebay, installed it myself and use The Monitoring Center for $10/month. Also got some discounts reviewing my policy - had updated my furnace and water heater which wasn't factored in my policy.

About $1300 a year with Meloche Monnex. I found that they have pretty good rates for Western grads. House is semi-detached, downtown Toronto, built in 1880s.
