Honda car key replacement

Mine ran out of the battery. I changed the battery, it still does not work. I think its broke now.
Where to buy new car keys at a cheaper price?

you can get just the shell + buttons on ebay for like 30 bucks and then you have to take it to the dealer to cut it and program it.

Did you insert the new battery correctly?

Did you test the new 3V battery to confirm that it is at least 3.6V?

Did you test the old battery to confirm that it was 3V or lower, and thus was the problem?

Did you snap the case firmly closed all round?

Did you damage anything inside when opening the case with a knife or something?

Where is your 2nd key? Take it to a locksmith shop and ask if he can supply and program a duplicate. Anywhere but the dealership.

You can do what the guy at Formula One Honda suggested we should do when we were there last time. We inquired about a new key as one of ours stopped working. We did the same and tried replacing the battery. Guy suggested that the newer cars now have the keyless FOB (aka push button start), so we should just trade-up. Lol... Can't make this shit up.

So instead of getting a replacement key, let me spend $25 grand on a new car?

Good list. Just to add, make sure you remove any protective film that sometimes covers one side of the battery. Sometimes it’s obvious, but sometimes it’s clear and is easy to miss. Don’t ask how I know to check for this too…!

Did you tell him "Sure, let's do that and you can pickup the tab". If I get some guy tell me that, i'd tell him off right there and then. WTF

Nah... both my wife and I had a good laugh behind his back. Like we'd be that gullible. Only irritating thing was he never did give us the procedure & price for the key replacement. We're using the spare for now and when I have time I'll give Honda a call and speak directly to the parts department.
