This model appears to be on clearance everywhere around the same price. Reviews suggest it's just another generic vac that you'll end up throwing away within first 3 years.

Lol the Dyson is also a throwaway, but for a lot more money.

My Dyson V6 barely even made it to 3 years. It came with a 1 yr warranty and had to be repaired every few months.

It’s on clearance at Walmart for $99.99. I picked up one last week and ended up returning it. Suction was not impressive at all.

You need to learn how to take care of them. I have a DC16 from 2006 and a V6B that I purchased in 2015 that are still going strong.

I love my Dyson(s) because they are really great at sucking, but quality seems to be a different thing. Both my V6 and V7 had battery issues. Covered under warranty, sure, but still. Dyson CS was good that they resolved the issue quickly, but they make excuses why that battery got shot. When it went, location dining room, they said that dining rooms are too close to the kitchen. When it was in the living room, they said that living rooms are too close to exterior doors. They reminded me of Rogers, when we'd have connection issues. Do you use a UPS? That's the issue. Surge protector? That's the issue. Is your home more than 10 years old? That's the issue, you need to re-wire the electric in your home!!!

The rear soleplate (so they are called) lost one of its wheels. $12.99 fix, which is reasonable, but good luck getting the part.

So how exactly do you take care of these things? I do like to think I take care of mine -- not overheating it, letting to charge fully after every use. Using an air compressor to clean out the dust and crap every month or so. But dang, these aren't Filter Queens.
Why can't we all just get along?

This is a garbage vacuum. Bought it from Walmart last week and the suction is weak.

Paid $99.99 and it's not even worth it.

*edit: it's WEAK...not week :p

Well, I probably should have tempered my comment a bit. All I do is clean them regularly (especially filters) and go on YouTube to resolve any issues I may encounter. Also, I did have to replace the battery on my DC16 about 7-8 years ago (just bought a 3rd party option on amazon) as well as on my V6 recently, although that one was because I shorted it during cleaning (was lazy and didn’t remove battery before rinsing). I also have had good luck with Dyson support for resolving issues. For example, I was having some performance issues with my V6 and they recommended cleaning contact with some steel wool. I bought my V6 from eBay refurbished store and would definitely do that again but I would never buy one new.

What did you mean by that? The battery isn't exactly removable without tools. And I wouldn't want water getting near the motor.

Every unit is different. The DC16 battery comes off without any tools. For the V6, there’s a small screw. I needed to wash out the unit as we accidentally vacuumed up something nasty and should have removed the battery first. I was too lazy to walk the 20 ft to my garage. I didn’t submerge it or anything but must have shorted something as it didn’t work after but buying a replacement battery fixed the issue.

I am not a fan of Dyson either. Honestly cordless vaccums in general are a waste of money. Spend around $500 and get a quality unit that won't break the bank. Sears use to carry some great models and usually had supplies and spare parts right in store or available next day. Almost any part could be ordered. Now most good quality vacs are sold online unless you live in a larger city that has a store specializing in Vacuums.

I disagree. If low/mid tier cordless vacuums suck then there would be no market for them. You walk into any condo unit these days and guaranteed you'll see a little dustbuster, dirt devil or stick vac of some kind. For high rise urban living they do the job.

I have this Hoover and it suits me fine. Granted, I've only had it for a week but for my 2000 sq ft home which has only hardwood & tile, it works great. The suction is adequate but if your place is heavily carpeted you should probably look elsewhere.

I'm gonna chime in here as well
I got this model almost two years ago. Still runs fine. Battery capacity might be slipping a bit but I think I'm still good on that front.
I think I got it for $175 at the time?

This guy suited my needs perfectly. I have no carpet, just hard flooring and tiles and a relatively small area to vacuum (~650sf). I think this thing would struggle on heavier carpets but if you're mostly non-carpeted areas I think this is a good option to look at for small spaces.
Suction does get progressively worse as the cannister fills up and especially when the washable filter is dirty. You kind of need to wash that filter after every hour of use to get the most suction. So that part is a bit of a hassle.

Prior to this I used V6 and V7. Are they better? Yea...I was looking at a Dyson refurb at the time but couldn't find anything. And given my small area and lack of carpet, I just needed a simple cordless vacuum which wasn't just a plain 'ol stick vac. That said, I experienced troubles with both the V6 and V7 when I had them. V6 acting couple years down the road and the V7 out of the box was having issues before I got a replacement.

I think cordless vacuums are a slightly different market than regular vacuums. Mine has replaced the broom and complements my plug in vacuum.

It was my mindset as well. I agree with you...to an extent.

I mentioned this concept of taking care of things...and I got this back: Don't serve your belongings, they're meant to be used. Don't pamper them. If a product doesn't last the day to day use and light degree of abuse, it's a product issue.

There's always a first time buyer market for everything...hoovers included.

And then there are those products that are almost literally made to self-destruct, specifically targeting the low-income sector...to buy and buy again, because you just can't save up enough to buy something that you need 'now'.
