Hostels in Barcelona?

Can anyone recommend a nice, cheap hostel in central Barcelona?

Thanks!

This site should give you the best reviews.

Sidequestion: People say that in hostels you usually meet other tourists, and you end up touring around the city with them too. How true is this? Can anybody share insight on how their hostel experiences have gone.

You usually end up meeting some really cool people in hostels. Most are young, open-minded, and travelling solo so it's super easy to meet up with them and see the sights together. I've stayed at about a dozen or so and have had some really amazing times. The better hostels will organize group activities, either guided walking tours or contests in their pub, to facilitate more social interaction.

Thanks! I have checked on hostelworld and hihostel as well. Just not really what what neighbourhood to stay in, or whether anyone had any good personal experiences at specific hostels.

Just start at #1 and make your way down the list until you find one that is in your price range.

Gothic quarter is the best, el ravel location wise isn't bad but this is where the hookers hang out.

Anything around Placa de Catalunya isn't bad either.
