It looked brand new to me, except it's in a white box without Apple logo/pics outside the box. I believe this is the exact same boxing & packaging Apple gives for people who buy refurb from the Apple store. The inside of the box looks the same as if you had bought brand new from Apple, including clear sleeve for the laptop itself, original Apple chargers

Good to know, Apple and IBM are partners so not surprised it is packed like that. They were advertised as open box.

Just received mine as well - MacBook 12".

Plain white box with Apple spec sticker on the back. Likely same as an official Apple refurb box.
I received space grey (my first choice!) and base config (was hoping for a bonus spec bump).
Factory wax paper wrapper around the Macbook itself. It looked like it was carefully re-wrapped.
Still had the piece of paper separating the screen from the keyboard.
Charger and USB-C cable (factory wrapped) were not used.

Laptop itself does not have any scratches.
I noticed some minor fingerprints on the trackpad that wiped away easily. Screen was perfectly clean.
The black rubber feet had some marks on them so you could tell it had been taken out of the box.
Battery was completely drained - plugged in and charging right now.
Booted up to the setup screen.

All in all, looks amazing! Will verify battery condition and warranty on Apple website. Thanks again OP for this sweet deal and good luck to everyone else!

Be interesting to know if it is eligible for Apple care?

Just checked online and it says coverage has expired. That's strange since the new MacBook went on sale April 10, 2015 (under 1 year). Perhaps something to do with IBM? I guess I could call Apple to figure out what's up.

Oh yea, no Apple stickers or pamphlets included - just an empty white envelope where they usually would be - for anyone that cares.

I'm not even a Apple guy but I'm really impressed. Only thing that concerned me was some reviews said performance isn't the best, but I found for my needs (e.g. no gaming, mainly browsing) its more than enough, even with many multiple tabs open in safari. Great deal, so thin & light, display is gorgeous, ergonomics which some people were concerned about, turned out to be fine for me. 15 month warranty, very happy, thanks thread starter!

Recieved my Macbook today. Looks great. Exactly as others have described - white box with a brand new battery. i wouldn't know the difference between this and a new one.
