Tried 3 cc but payment didn't go through. Anyone know why?
My AMEX didn't want to go through, probably triggered some fraud protection thing.

MasterCard went through, bought one 12 inch macbook, I hope they are in like new condition.

Wanted the MacBook Pro but it's sold out. Is the regular MacBook a "hot deal" as well? I don't really need the extra processing power anyways.

Also anyone have experience with battery life of these certified laptops? Should I expect them to be in relatively good condition?

IBM-certified Macs!

I never would have imagined it.

Why didn't Apple certify them?

The way IBM works is when their employees are done with a device or they are sent in for repair, they refurbish it themselves and resell it themselves, to make the maximum amount of money back. IE these units are IBM refurbished not Apple refurbished. IBM GTS is the company that provides you next-day support or replacement for your Apple devices in the Enterprise ( http://www.apple.com/support/enterprise/ ) so are authorized and have full capability to refurbish devices themselves.

The majority of these devices probably had SSDs that went bad and got replaced, or keyboards that went bad and got replaced, simple things like this.
To be nobody but yourself - in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. -- E. E. Cummings

IBM signed up with Apple a while back to start transitioning almost all of their employees to Macs. These might be some of the original units that are have been replaced internally.
2015 wins: Trip for 2 to NYC with airfare, limo, hotel and insurance ($3700); Maple Leafs tickets($250); 32GB HTC One M9 ($700), Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1($200), Samsung Galaxy Note 5($850), Aukey 2 port fast car charger($23), Fitbit Flex ($120), Blue Piston Bluetooth Speaker ($30). 2016 wins: nada

Could be laptops from IBMers who left or were told to leave. Seems there's endless cost cutting moves at that co.

Waited too long to decide and now both MacBooks are OOS.

I kind of need a new laptop soon though since my HP is slowly dying (overheating). Any of the other ones listed seem like good deals? What about the 420s?

I can't seem to find any articles that suggest macbook will get refreshed. tomorrow's announcement will most likely be with iphone 4se and ipad update.
Macbook was released this time last year and their entire notebook line is begging for a skylake refresh. I can't see why apple would wait any longer. their laptops are usually refreshed every 12-16 months and considering how new this model is and the fact that it's not really flying off the shelves, they probably want to update it sooner rather than later (i hope ;) )...

That's what happens when you go to sleep.
Can't you sleep with your MacBook beside you?
