Hot tub purchase through my company

Hi all, wondering if I can purchase a hot tub corporately and write it off. My business relies on me being physically able and a hot tub really helps my back.
No smart ass answers necessary, simple question and who wouldn’t want to if they could!

Thanks in advance for any help!

The CRA has a list of medical expenses allowed as a tax deduction here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency ... eturn.html

The same list applies to a corporate group extended medical insurance plan or a PHSP (Private Health Service Plan). A very small percentage of reasonable expenses not on the official CRA list may be allowed for a business insurance plan, but not a hot tub.

Almost anything that's legal could be allowed as a business expense if you could show it was directly connected to your income-earning business, such as a demo hot tub if your business is selling hot tubs. But the tax dodge of claiming questionable items needed for health purposes is well-known and carefully scrutinized by the CRA for small business.

Yes, according to the list above, it is an eligible expense.

"Whirlpool bath treatments – the amount paid to a medical practitioner for these treatments. A hot tub that you install in your home, even if prescribed by a medical practitioner, is not eligible."

Of course. Your corp can buy anything it wants. But if it's for your personal use and has no business purpose, it's a shareholder benefit.
