House Title Search

Can a person (non-lawyer) request a title search on the home they own? Where can one perform such a search and cost?

The point of the search is to identify the charges registered against the home they own.

Thanks in Advance!

You can request a title search on any home, including your own home. Simply go to the nearest land titles registry office for the subject home, fill out the form and pay the fee.

Definitely follow cbr663's advice and head over to the nearest land registry office. The staff there will help you out and ensure you are searching the right property and not wasting money unnecessarily.

Absoloutely. It's a very cheap price to pay for peace of mind. Remember a litany of people can put liens against builder's property. Anyways unless you're paying cash, mortgage funding is conditional on a clean title.
