How to challenge property assessment

Any tips on how to best challenge Mpac property assessment/ property tax TO. For detached Yonge & York Mills. Do it yourself/ hire someone? Existing thread?

I wrote a letter complete with 6 comparable properties that were sold in my neighborhood recently along with explanation of why my property was assessed too higher and sent it in. They came back and lowered my assessment by 7%. Your first step is to File a Request for Reconsideration with MPAC. Its all here:

+1 ... my neighbour across the street does this each time a new MPAC assessment has been issued, as she comes over to talk about it.
Frankly, I think that if anyone creates a fuss, it's easier for them to simply reduce the rate than put up an argument. Let's face it, they know they are hated by most homeowners.
I'd rather be outdoors camping, kayaking, and mountain biking ...
