How do YOU find time to play?

Odd thread maybe but I am finding it harder and harder to get gameplay time in. Now I am a bit lucky in that I can get 1 hour of MP in through the week before kids bedtime, lunches, etc but thats it.
Curious how everyone manages their time to get in games...especially games that are 40+ hours long. Might be a silly request and I do realize we all have different lives but I find it interesting to hear how others manage their lives with games Smiling Face With Open Mouth

We get the kids to bed around 8:30-9, and then my wife and I have some time to watch our shows or a movie, and I end up playing from around 11 or 11:30pm onwards... My core group of MP friends are usually on from 10pm - 1am, so it works out.

Sometimes I'll have time on a weekend afternoon if I'm lucky, but that's about it.

I play weekends mostly. Honestly though, I find my gaming habits go in spurts. Some weeks I will need gaming to help unwind, other times I have no interest in picking up a controller because I'm not in the mood or have other hobbies.
I love gaming, but have also reached a point in my life where I try to find some balance doing a couple of other things too. Those other things could also be gaming related, but not strictly gaming.

I mostly set aside an hour a day or so every few days a week. On weekends I will might stay up a little longer to play.

I find for me this prolongs the enjoyment of a game. Just as I don’t binge watch tv shows I also don’t binge games. I just take it in small chunks.

Too much of anything ruins the fun.

Portability is my main focus on gaming these days. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do much gaming.

Outside of work I don't have a whole ton of responsibilities outside of just ordinary errands and keeping our home in order. I honestly have all the time in the world for whatever between 5pm-2am weekdays and all weekend long for gaming but like @BernardRyder it's more about finding balance with my other hobbies and plans than finding time to play games. It's why casual passive games I can play while I listen to music or podcasts are my go to these days. I'll still nerd out on a single player RPG for hours on end once in a while but it's rare for a game to hook me like that and I'm more often doing other stuff.

Eliminate all contact with friends and family.

Do not participate in any other hobbies.

Avoid having a job.

Block all access to porn.

Prevent acquiring any responsibilities.

There is no other way it can be done.

Face With Tears Of Joy exactly this.

I find it difficult to allocate time for gaming these days : 40's, 2 kids, pet, house owner, early morning job, horny wife...oh wait, lol.
I also enjoy a good movie/TV shows, sports, socializing with family and friends, etc.
My 2 solutions are:
1) The odd time I stay up late, like really late, and game (probably not as productive at work the next day
2) Cloud gaming on my Pixel phone with Game Pass on my lunches and downtime. Worked out well during the peak of pandemic

I tend to play more in the winter months than any other time in the year. That's the perfect time to play a long 40+ hour single player game imo. There are some Sundays in Winter that I would play for 6+ hours. For me, its not difference than binging a show on Netflix (except I'm doing something more interactive, which at times feels more satisfying).

With SP games, I can play at my own pace. Some games I complete in a month or so. Other games I could stretch within a span of a few months to a couple of years.

Some of my friends in their early 30s only play COD to unwind after work. They may play an hour or two a day.

I know others that may have one or two SP games that they slowly chip away throughout the year.

I work ~40-50 hours/week since we transitioned to WFH and have three kids so not a ton of time to game but its also one of my favorite things to do so I definitely carve out some time to do it.

I typically only game on weeknights after the kids go to bed at that point I'm usually able to get a 2-3 hours in before I get to go to bed myself.
Weekends are generally reserved for family/social events so I rarely get any gaming done in on the weekend unless I make a point of it and when a good show comes out that my wife and I are into it will also eat into my gaming time.

Big long open world game with repeatable tasks/missions are generally just a daunting experience at this point and I tend to skip those *cough* Ubisoft games *cough*.

Gamepass has been a boon in this regards because I'm able to try out so many games that I wouldn't otherwise try out because of the time/cost commitment and I'm able to just play what I enjoy till I stop enjoying it vs. trying to play through something because I spent the money and I gotta make sure it was worth it lol.

I actually enjoy Ubisoft open world games with how they're typically split up into short bite sized quests and missions that are great for killing 20-30 min here and there. I loved AC Origins, Odyssey, Watch Dogs 2 and Division 2 for being able to jump in and casually clear a few short missions in between other meatier games that require longer play sessions.

For me, it's nice I have a flexible job that has a lot of downtime so I use this time to game or do errands. But I do admit, I'm playing less and less. It's getting hard just to keep engaged with Elden Ring lol. It's much easier to just play a quick MP game with friends like Warzone, PUBG, or LoL.

It's hard. I find it even tougher to find that motivation to turn on the game console.

A majority of nights i would rather just lay on the couch and watch a TV show. Maybe on weekends when there is nothing going on, I'll throw on a game. Last one i played was Uncharted Lost Legacy, two weekends ago.

There's way more quality and creativity in TV and film than video games right now. I don't have a preference really but I'm gravitating more towards film and TV lately which I think we're in a golden age of right now while most new games just feel like more of the same

I agree in some cases, but for me it still depends. I'm getting a bit tired of formulaic Netflix content tbh, it's getting to the point some of their series feels like Network television, like they're stuck in creativity stasis. I'm finding I can predict a lot, or see obvious tropes, before the end of the first episode of a Netflix series.
OTOH even if there are a few obvious tropes in a video game I'm playing, just the perspective of me running the action makes it more palatable. Plus some games have very obvious storylines, but a small unexpected twist in the story will keep me more engaged than some movies or TV shows with bigger twists ever can.

Don't want to derail this topic but Netflix is basically the EA/Ubisoft of streaming. They occasionally produce a hit but they're few and far between the piles of overrated junk they produce while the better shows and films are typically found elsewhere. It's exactly like how the most popular AAA game studios don't fully represent the best in gaming and you need to explore AA and indie releases as well.

I have two kids, I managed to have about 30 minutes a night to play games.
