How to find a job as an international trained professional

Going to participate in a group discussion to help immigrants find first job in Canada. They mostly have college above education and had good job in home countries. I prepared some materials, but just wondering whether someone can give me advice on how to find first job either from hiring manager's perspective or first hand experience as job seeker. I will incorporate those advice into my conversation.
