How to get money for car that wont run?

Welp I blew the clutch in my 2007 honda Fit the other day. Has 250k km on it, was working fine before that.

Probably not worth fixing it for $1500, so im wondering what my options are.
Seems unlikely for someone to buy it on kijiji if it doesnt run.
Would trade-in be my best bet? Are there places that buy cars no matter what?
Would a dealership even want my car if they're not interested in selling an older car like that ?

I just did a quick search on auto-trader, people are still asking a few grand for a high mileage 2007/2008 Fit. I'm sure you could get something for it on Kijiji as is. More than you'd get at a scrap yard. If you're planning on a buying a new car anyways you could always ask what dealerships will give you, they could just give you $500 for it.

If not, personally I'd probably throw it on Kijiji / FB for 750 and let the first person that offered 500 or more come get it.

The last couple cars that I drove till dead I donated afterwards. They came and towed them away and I received a tax receipt for a charitable donation. The tax receipt has always been more than I could have got for the vehicle.

Yeah i guess ill try out kijijijiji. Someone would have to come with a trailer to tow it.
Im guessing if i try to trade it in at a dealership then i'd have to pay to tow it there too.

You can always part it out to get more than a few hundred bucks.

Depends the car, some car is worthless to fix, some does.

A 13 yrs old fit still have it's demand. You can repair it and sell for $2000-$2500 depending on the condition for the rest of the car.

If you don't want to fit it on your own, I'm sure you can get $500 easy

A DIY'er can replace the clutch for like $500 and be on their way.

If the car's still in good condition, it still has a lot of life left in it.

A worn out clutch on an old car is to be expected anyways. It wears every time you take off or change gears. It can't last forever.

Honda quoted me $2500 to fix the clutch with 11 hrs of labour.
Gettin to that clutch is pretty up there for DIY in the driveway. Might just be time. Sucks that it wont be worth much $ but can probably go another 100k easy.
I think the wifes already fiending for a new Fit.

Put it on Kijiji, but list it for about double of what you are hoping to get for it.
If you want 1000 dollars, list it for 2000.

The Kijiji crowd will usually try to lowball you for around half your asking price, so this approach will leave you lots of wiggle room.

If iGarage can fix it for $1070, I'd definitely do it. A running Fit with 250,000 kms should be worth more than $2,000.

My rear suspension is shot and theres some rust here and there. Not sure if i can get 2k even with the new clutch.
I think I still might go the kijiji route and tell someone that igarage can get er goin for an extra 1100.

+1k for Ivan.

Convinced a friend and he said he Ivan will be his go to garage.

I got $500 for my 02 Civic but clutch and 5MT were intact. Buyer only wanted the tranny. I only told him about the relatively new Monroe complete struts that Ivan installed in 2017 or 18.

Lots of life left on that car especially because you are replacing parts that may give you another 10 years haha.
