how to go about granite countertop?

I want to replace my melamine countertop with a 22x63" silestone undermount sink countertop. How do I go about finding a finished slab for the particular sink I want to put in (kraus 32" black granite composite) ?

will hardware stores give me the parts so I can install it myself? who else will?

Call up a countertop place or just go to Lowes etc. They'll do the rest. You won't be saving anything by doing it yourself and you risk cracking the stone and injuring yourself. This is not a one person job. It is EASILY 20 lbs a square foot so you'd be looking at close to 200 lbs. You might be able to get a remnant that size, but no one is going to let you cut that small piece out of a whole slab.

I don't get why anyone would want to blow up the side of a mountain in the name of vanity.

Why dig up oil sands to make the melamine in the name of vanity?
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I don't see why he couldn't do it himself. There's Youtube videos out there showig do-it-yourself installation and it seems do-able if one is at least half-way handy. And its only a 63" length, not some huge 20' long solid piece.
Latitute Countertops in North York sells remnants. Maybe he can find something there.

installing a countertop that size is definitely DIY able

but cutting out the sink is not something you can do yourself (or any kind of cutting on the slab).
Any countertop fabricator will be able to cut it for you at a cost, but then I don't think you will be saving much to put the stone on yourself vs them doing it.

I don't think there is much "hardware" when you are installing countertop.
The plywood base is usually screws into the cabinet frame, and the granite silicone on top.

I just picked a random photo. I wouldn't go with granite personally, too much up keep. Tile counter tops can turn out really nice.

I only want granite because of the ease of cleaning. Tile grout lines would catch beard trimmings and I wouldn't be able to just squeegee it into the sink. If there was any alternative I would pick that. melamine undermount aren't leak proof. When I say undermount sink, I flush, no hundredth of an inch sticking out. So tile is out of the question.
