How to import a sea freight shipment in Toronto?

Hey RFDers,

If I were to import products into Toronto/GTA from China by using sea freight shipping (not door to door)

How do I clear the products myself?
Where do I go to clear the items?
Where do I go to pick up the items?
If there is a better subreddit regarding this please let me know.

Thank you in advance!! :)

P.S. The reason why I am asking is because I did door to door for my first sea freight shipment and they charged around 2.5x what was quoted, so I would like to cut out the middle men involved.

I am paying roughly $750 USD for door to door, is that an okay amount for door to door?
They told me $325.00. The package has a net weight of 200kilos and a cubic metre of 0.76m

Ask your freight forwarder as it's specific.

Seems pretty high. I'm bringing in a package right now from China .88cbm 193kg and it costs me $100 to get it to the port. In your instance that would assume another $650 for shipping from the port to your door which seems high.

Take a look at clearit.ca -- I've read mixed reviews however seem really good they should be able to help you with everything you need!
