How many credit cards have you had over your entire lifetime?

I am curious of the heavy churners here, how many cc's have you possessed over your entire life?

I can't really put a number on it as I got some cards only for the design and never used them. But likely in the hundreds. It also depends how you quantify that. I've have the CIBC Aeroplan/Aerogold and RBC Avion cards multiple times over the last 30 years. That could be two or thirty cards depending on how you count.

That poor Lowe's card op top is still with sticker 🤣

I would have never expected that it's so many, wow!
I would guess that's around 60?

I would count each application as 1 but I would not count it if a card is expired/lost/stolen and they simply sent you a new one.

If you applied to 5 Amex Gold, then that counts as 5x

I use the Lowe's card to get a discount when I bought a kitchen sink. I only used that account once.

I think I got 60 new cards in the last five years. Smiling Face With Sunglasses

How many cards (which might count each renewal separately), or how many card accounts (in which case an account that got PSed a bunch of times over 20 years counts as one)?

I guess I mean card accounts from a rewards churning perspective.

If you own a single card for 30 years renewed for 7x, that still counts as 1

If you own a card, switch into another product and claim the rewards, then that counts as 2

13 of these 19 are still open
3 of these 13 won't last beyond a year (FYF)

I got my first credit card in 1994 and have opened 28 more trade lines since then, 20 of those since 2016. Some of those individual lines represent multiple card products, like my Amex SC, which was opened in 1999 as an Air Miles card. Or my HSBC card, which was opened as a WE, downgraded to Advance, and upped to WE again. So it’s kind of hard to count.

I'd rather have one good card then churning through one-time bonuses and FYF's, honestly.
It's cool, but gets exhausting and is annoying.

Since I started churning, 45. I had about 5 before that. Total 50. Not bad.

I pulled out a few credit cards and weighed them.
The average weight of a credit card is 5 grams.
So not factoring in the weight of the bag, math says that 1936/5 = 387 cards in that bag.
Question is, how many are renewals, and or loyalty cards Smirking Face
