This is the second time in a few months I've had a package from Amazon disappear right after its shipped. They always make you wait days before you can claim a refund. Signed up for Prime last year, hasn't met even basic expectations and the only reason I've continued with it is I'm reimbursed for it through a govt program. Will cancel regardless at this point, basically, out of principle.

You mean disappear after it arrived at your doorstep, or in the process of shipping?
Porch pirates are a real issue, that's asking for a camera of some sort. If it's in the process of shipping, maybe it's your delivery guy or the warehouse itself. I'd let Amazon know, they could be investigating it already.

I had some detergent that went missing during the shipping process- it just stopped tracking at some point and never got to the "delivered" stage
maybe the box got ruined or something and they just tossed out it

No, I mean tracking says "Shipped" and that's the end of that. Then at the end of the day it was supposed to arrive I get "Sorry, your order is late, you MAY still get your order, wait two days than ask for a refund". Not sure why I need to wait, its never going to come since I don't believe they ever shipped it. This IS the second time this has happened with one of my orders.

Gotta be some way to contact Amazon and bring up those facts, that's just too odd. I know some people email Jeff Bezos directly and it apparently is a good way to get help.

Are these “sold and fulfilled by Amazon” or some third-party seller?

Sold and shipped by Amazon. As for the other guy's question, its special services at home (daughter is autistic).

We order a lot from Amazon and I've never had this happen to me. Don't blame you for wanting to cancel if this is a regular occurrence though.

I've had it happen a few times this year myself.

Sure it sucks, but after a few days I get a full refund. Or sometimes Customer Service offers to make a new order at the same price.
The only time it really sucks is if you got the last one.

Also I think they legitimately lose it instead of just marking it shipped.
I've had one or two packages actually show up quite a bit later after they were lost.

If OP wants to cancel Prime, that's their right. Even with the occasional lost package, they (Amazon) are doing a lot better than other retailers.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

This happened to me maybe 5 times or so in the past couple of years. It started happening at some point in time and had never happened before that point. I think it involved both sold by Amazon and third party products. And I believe this only happened when it was shipped by Intelcom, which is most used option by Amazon anyway. I contacted Amazon by chat and sold by Amazon products were reshipped and third party products were refunded and I had to order them again. I wonder why it happens but the symptoms were as you described - package is shipped and then it vanishes. P.S. I am on Prime.

That happened to me once a few months ago and it was delivered 1-2 days after. I hope the same happens for you.

I had shipments that “will be delivered by the end of the day” repeat for multiple days since covid but haven’t had any issues with them disappearing. Also occasionally people walk up to my door without knocking or ringing the doorbell (likely looking for packages) so there definitely has been an increase of porch pirates since covid (tho interestingly this stopped happened the last couple months)

Never had it happen to me.

I once had a package come and the envelope was never sealed so the small item fell out, was empty. They sent a new one out and had it before I even woke up the next morning. This was in the middle of February this year.
