How much damage are we looking at?

Neigbor got his Mazda whacked this morning. He is thinking of selling it and not fixing it. If the price is right I was thinking of picking it up from him. I am guessing 5K worth of damage. What is the rfd keyboard warriors say?

If it's just all cosmetic, 2k should do it. I don't see major dents / scratches with the doors. Front door looks like it can be PDR-ed. Just the front quarter needs to be replaced/painted and the plastic moldings need to be replaced. You can ding him another 500 for a repaint on the bumper since there's some small scratches on passenger side?

You could probably tell him 5k, and profit the rest.

Yes, passenger side front wheel lip looks severely damaged.

Driver side door looks seriously dented judging by reflections of neighbouring rooflines.

I think the car owner knows it is big dollars and hence why is he is leaning towards unloading it.

Just the sort of deal that the average RFD'er would be salivating over, but I wouldn't touch it.

.... to add. Huge potential for the infamous rust concern now that the process has just sped up significantly.

Nah, OP will just buy a plunger from a dollar store.

He'll probably claim he fixed it like new for $65, anything more is a ripoff.

New Front quarter panel is only $35 on rockauto.
Cost is high because the body shop milks you, not when they fix the car

I dont see any airbags deployed, only other thing to worry is structural damage, if there is none and price is cheap get it. Fix it. Enjoy it.

Point of impact seems to be right at the 2nd half of front wheel and it got push onto the curb.

I had similar accident 15 years ago and insurance quote back then was around $7K. CV joint, wheel, tire, and 2 body panels (quarter and door).... and (whatever trim and pieces around that wheel well.

The impact I took was from a car traveling in the same direction around 45kph and pulled into me as he hit black ice.
