How Often Can We Obtain Free Credit Report?

Hello. I live in Ontario. I see that we could obtain free credit reports from Equifax and Transunion.

How often can we request typically these? Is it whenever we want? Or once a year? Or once a calendar year?

Thank you.

I follow the deals
You can request them as often as you'd like, but the agencies deliberately take weeks to fulfill the requests unless you pay them.

You're better off signing up for Credit Karma (for Transunion) and Borrowell (for Equifax) which are both free services that will allow you to see your full report and give you weekly or monthly updates on them.

It's rather routine once you've get beyond the first report.

TransUnion is once a month (instant online download).
Equifax remains once a year (I use automated phone method & got paper in mail within a week sent from Quebec to Ontario)

Hope this helps.

Lol so is it as often as we’d like or once a year then? I keep seeing conflicting information on searches and now here as well haha.

I prefer to do the mail in option to the bureaus themselves rather than giving personal information to third parties.

Once a week for your simplified credit reports from Credit Karma, which gets its information from Transunion, and Borrowell, which gets its information from Equifax. Borrowell updates only once a month for many people, though. They also give you credit scores, but they're not scores that many lenders care about.

If you get your credit reports, a.k.a. consumer disclosures, directly from Transunion or Euifax, they won't give you credit scores, but they'll give you much more detailed information, including your soft credit checks. Transunion will give this to you up to once a month through this page:

Code: Select all

Equifax will give it to you up to once a year apparently as often as you want and requesting it is a longer, more annoying process, which you can read about here.

So Equifax is actually once a year then and not as often as we’d like as I’ve read around?

Would that be once a year from the last request or once a calendar year?

Once a year with EQ?

Strange as I've ordered three times so far Sept,Oct and Dec, via the automated system.

This! In Canada, you can order daily for report that is mailed, if you desire. Online reports are up to bureau's mercy on frequency, if to offer for free in the first place.
