How to pay money owed to CRA if it is over my daily Interac transfer limit

CRA website provide a link to pay them via Interac, it does not have my bank and the amount I owed is over the daily interac transfer limit as well.

How do you guys pay CRA with your Scotiabank chequing account?

Thanks.

Set it up as a payee under bill payments. Click on Bill Payments, Add Payee, and then choose CRA - (instalment, 2020 tax return or amount owing, depending on how you want your payment classified).

Why can't you pay CRA directly from your Scotia account - under pay bills?

You can always do the old fashion way, pay in Scotia branch.

I don't have a Scotiabank chequing account but the times that I've had to pay CRA, I paid them as a bill payment whether it was on my TD Canada Trust account or my Tangerine account (and there is no limit that I know of for a bill payment except for your account's current available balance).

I'm not sure why you want to do it as an Interac transfer.

So this may not be true. I used bill pay on an RBC business account (so it could be different for personal) and they told me the limit was $99,999.00 per day.

The bill I had to pay was expensive, but not that expensive so I have not tested it Winking Face

You can set up a one-time pre-authorized debit from your bank account on the CRA web site. This has 2 problems:

- It requires more lead time than other methods (about a week), so can't be used to meet a short-term payment deadline

- The CRA may leave payments made by this method stuck in limbo for weeks after they receive the money before they get around to processing the payment for the intended purpose.

Bill payment from the bank is quicker.
