How to permanently disable forced updates Windows 10 Home

I need help to permanently disable forced updates Windows 10 Home. I tried following step by step instructions I found on youtube, but the damn updates still pop up and force my computer to reset. Can a computer wizard please provide me specific instructions that are permanent that accomplish my goal.

I use Comodo Firewall. It is FREE to use and have disabled all the extraneous features it offers on it, except for the Firewall.

Made a "Custom Ruleset" and have only allowed Internet Access to a handful of apps, such as Firefox, Steam, etc. The "System" process is only allowed Local (LAN) Access, so it can connect to the router for DNS, DHCP requests etc. Though make sure to turn off UPnP on your router as otherwise Windows (the "System" process) can request for ports to be forwarded.

And that's it. Keep it on "Silent Mode" so it will block everything else by default.

Try downloading O&O Shutup 10

https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

Run the program and scroll down to where it says WINDOWS UPDATE, its the last 3 options on the list with a red exclamation point ! saying NO to disabling it, as its not recommended. Disabling the 3 options for Windows Update will permanently disable W10 from updating until you turn it back on in the software.

Reset? I hope you meant reboot. If you don't like forced updates install them manually before they are forced upon you. Problem solved.

I'm stuck on Win10 1607 from 4 or 5 years ago. My PC tried to update multiple times per day and would fail. It was very frustrating.

Eventually, I found @heyyahblah's suggestion of O&O (OOSU10) as well as DWS and winaerotweaker as other options.

I used O&O and it worked fine. However, the downsides are that it will be the end of ALL updates - not just upgrades and you also lose the ability to download anything from the Windows app store. I personally can live with that but you'll have to decide.

Not that (I) am missing anything, but you could always side load. Although this may not be possible with Home if Home is missing powershell or something else stupid.
For LTSC (where the app store doesn't even exist) I can sideload anything I might need.

Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

But how do you find apps that are only in the Windows app store? There have been the odd apps that I would have liked to have but couldn't get at because of the limitation.

Since this is a link generator, old apps might not be there any more. But try it anyways.

Then you use "Add-AppxPackage" in power shell.

Essentially, disable Windows Update in services

Even that isn't foolproof.
There's a non disableable service called Update Orchestrator that likes reenabling it.
3rd party software is the only way to really disable it for good.
